I'm telling you, the damage Preston Manning did to politics in Canada is immeasurable. Losing rational moderate Conservative parties in Alberta and Canada has proven to be disastrous. And he just keeps going...

I believe Cappy is mocking the "socially progressive, fiscally conservative" position by saying it's ok for people to be marginalised for economic reasons but not for their sexual preference.

people that support the important people that actually run our country. Sure, the Chief of Staff is an important person but they're not on the ballot and nobody is choosing whether to vote for somebody based on who their Chief of Staff is.
Same difference. The Chief of Staff is a super important position, and one would think Carney would appoint someone not caught up in corruption and past scandals.

I always love the, "socially progressive, fiscally conservative" person.
Look all i want is a tax cut, and better service an infrastructure, and no government debt, and financial aide when I lose my job, and for the government not to make any mistakes with money, and for them to keep the programs that I use, and get rid of the programs that I do not use. Is that too much to ask?

Anyone that says they are fiscally responsible and goes along with massive yearly spending increases and tax increases and stupidity increases is not fiscally responsible.

As Canadians’ concerns about U.S. President Donald Trump rise, Pierre Poilievre’s Conservative polling advantage appears to have evaporated, with the Liberals now just one point behind according to the latest Nanos numbers.
In new weekly tracking released Tuesday, the Conservatives are at 36 per cent support, the Liberals – now under the leadership of Mark Carney – have risen to 35 per cent support, and the NDP are at 15 per cent.
The data indicates Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s resignation and the race to replace him, combined with the deteriorating Canada-U.S. relationship, have resulted in a dramatic shift in Canadian public opinion.

This would be an accurate reading in a very immature economy.
But occasionally we might want to invest in infrastructure, education... to generate economic output before the cost of the infrastructure goes up at a pace that is greater than servicing the debt.
Another good sign that you're not actually fiscally responsible is not understanding the value of debt financing investment.

Oh I understand and agree that we sometimes need to invest in all those things. Right now, we pay close to $40 billion per year just to service our national debt. This is not even paying it down.
That is one reason why I never agreed with Liberal government saying they were going to run a moderate deficit in 2015, then balance the books after that (spoiler, he never did).
