Nevermind. My team is going to finish with 84 games played in an 82 game season.

Bravo, EA. Bravo.

good to know. I wasn't going to fully dive into Franchise mode anytime soon anyway because I'm still busy creating missing college and 25/26 draft prospects, but knowing that I might hold off a while before they patch the worst stuff out.

It's so frustrating, especially because there's bits and pieces in every EA sports series that I like. I love the fact that you can edit absolutely everything in Madden Franchise mode (ratings, contracts etc), as well as building and loading in separate draft classes. In NHL, I really like the "merge rosters" option because it allows you to quickly inject your created prospects into EAs updated rosters. I feel like my personal experience would already be enhanced if those games took some elements of their "sister" games, but obviously those are completely different teams working on those games.

I just wish EA would at least half-ass these games. Just too bad there's no competing games anymore to push them a bit.

WTf are they doing with these updates.

I took 3 years off NHL and it seems to be worse than it ever was.

Although I think the gameplay is a bit better in some ways. In others not. Why can you not hit anymore. Not just the opposing players avoiding but literally like the other players have forcefield around them and you just deflect off them.

So weird and stupid.
I embarrassingly played an entire season of NHL 24 without knowing how to properly hit (that's the year it changed). Instead of pushing the stick in the direction of the opponent as you would in previous games, you have to wind it up first like you would a slap shot and then throw your hit.

I actually got worse at defence once I figured it out, because oddly enough shoving people around is a pretty good strategy. Once you start trying to throw insane hits you get out of position real quick.

New update out.

Seems like it fixed nothing.

I'm starting to really hate it. You can't play D normally. Skating backwards is irrevelant they'll just skate by you. It sucks pretty bad. There's a youtube video that shows the best way to defend is to skate the same way as the attacker, but ahead of them? Frigging joke and isn't very fun. Hip checks and poke checks while skating backwards seems to have been taken out of the game (not fully, but apparently it's what not to do in this bs game)

It just returned function to areas that were only slightly dysfunctional before the other patch.

I actually have to give EA a little credit in the fact they pushed this out so quickly. I thought for sure we'd be waiting until the new year.

is there a particular set of sliders that you guys would recommend? Only just getting into playing the actual game after spending a ton of hours on creating/editing prospects for a franchise save, so curious if anybody has a set that plays well and produces somewhat realistic stats.

I haven't played EA hockey in years, but I've recently been playing the original ones on a Genesis emulator (NHLPA 93-NHL 98). We complain about EA being lazy now, but man, NHL 98 was such a lazy game. So many players had the wrong-handedness - maybe I can see guys like Iginla and Todd Simpson, as it was their first year in the game, but Mario Lemieux? Mats Sundin? Wendel Clark?

You can also hit by just pressing the circle ⭕ button. Holding L2 on defence helps with positioning to line up the hit too.

hitting has been super frustrating for me too. I'm still used to just using the right stick, but it's extremely ineffective for me in this one. Eaaily my biggest gameplay issue so far.

This is the one switch they made that I actually like. So much easier to hit than using that dumb stick.

I played an entire season thinking that hitting is up on the right stick. It's not. That's closer to a push.

You have to pull back on the stick first and launch your hit like you would a slapshot.

Do you still outshoot a team 50-6 but lose 3-2 because they score on every other shot in 25?

I can't say that's been my experience, but I think I might be one of the few out there that really likes the game. I'm also open to the possibility I'm just highly, highly skilled.

well I last played 24...my complaint isn't my skill or lack thereof its the fact the AI is so bad the only way they can make it harder is make their goalie unrealistically good and make yours unrealistically bad.

I would love a game with shots 30-30 and the score even, that would be the perfect difficulty setting.
