Glad I'm alive but I'm still so mad. It was an '18 S5 with only 40k, don't think it was ever winter driven. Think i'll have to see what I might get from insurance before I decide what's next, but I'm pretty much between AWD German coupes as I was before.

The truck guy rear ended a Kia so hard in the right lane that he then ended up in the middle lane and hit me, sending me rolling to the left, then a Ford Escape either hit me while I was rolling or hit the guardrail. 4 vehicles got towed away, mine was by far the worst.

Worse thing about rolling your car twice is cleaning all the #### out of your pants.

This car came from Winnipeg. Got it for $40k with only 40,000 km. There's another white '18 S5 for sale in Edmonton, also for $40k... with only 25,000 km! Also has a front plate so it'd be wild if that was also a Winnipeg car.

See this is a true car guy, totals a car in a pretty severe rollover and already looking for the replacement before his car is in the compound!
Glad your ok! Was that blood on the windshield?

Haha, we bought our 2017 Sportwagen out of Winnipeg from a VW guy. Was by far the best priced vehicle out there and well taken care of. First time I'd been to Winnipeg as well, and we got to experience one of their crazy Winter storms trying to leave the city. It was insane.

Haven’t bought a new car for a long time but we’ve purchased a 2024 RAV4 hybrid. What add ons will they try to sell me? I’ll get quotes on undercoating to see if they’ll match. Is 3M the best? Help me understand undercoating?
Any other add ons they’ll push?

Had a mini bottle of barbecue sauce in a grocery bag on the passenger seat.
I did have a moment where I was trying to figure out where I was cut before I realized it was sauce.

I wouldn't do it. They spray a rubber coating under the vehicle, theoretically stopping water/salt/oxygen from contacting the frame to prevent rust.
They may actually end up blocking drain holes in the frame, and water splashing up from puddles and wet roads can get stuck instead of draining out. If you hit some ice or rocks, it can scrape it, creating another path for water to get stuck.
Just wash the underside of your vehicle periodically instead.

Not worth it or cheaper elsewhere:
- Window protection program. Check your insurance.
- Hitch
Things that are worth it:
- cargo liner.
- cross bars - maybe. They’ll probably cost just as much elsewhere, so might as well get then from dealer.
They may throw in the winter tires on rims if you push them in it.

Lots of pain this morning... right hip, back, neck, shoulder. I did go to the hospital for CT scans last night that were all clear but I'm pretty sore.

That seems an unlikely throw in, no?

From what I understand with new Rav4s, that's a never-in-your-lifetime throw in... You'll probably be lucky if some of the add-ons aren't even optional, unless things have changed dramatically.

We were able to do it. We dealt with the Cochrane dealership and they were good to work with - I’d avoid CH if you can. They were such a pain in the ass to deal with and kept screwing around with us.
We did previously get a quote from a dealer with a car that came with the winters, and when we went to CH they said sure they’ll throw them in, and when that deal went south, we brought it up with Cochrane dealer, they also said they’d include them.

I mean, it’s not a cheap vehicle, so the winter tires are a small fraction of the price. I could see if it were a Yaris or Corolla or something they’d probably kibosh the ask.

Does never-in-your-lifetime mean no or slim chance?

Based on this thread, I’m thinking of contacting my sales person and advising I want winter tires + rims added in or the RAV deal is off. Thoughts?
