Jankowski traded to Carolina for 2026 5th

Did a quick search didn't see this posted anywhere. Nashville frees up a contract spot and gets a pick. Came in three hours after the deadline funny enough.

There were a few minor deals not really touched on (for obvious reasons)

Reese Johnson from Minnesota to Toronto for future considerations
Daniil Misyul from New Jersey to Boston for Marc McLaughlin
Dennis Cholowski from Islanders to New Jersey for Adam Beckman
Daniel Sprong from Seattle to New Jersey for a 7th

Makes sense. I figured Jankowski being a former flame (and a polorizing one at that). It deserved its own thread.

Jankowski carved out a career - good for him I guess. He passed Yakupov in games played.
What a weird draft class. the top 4 were all disappointments. But after that some real gems.

leader in goals and points got traded for a 32-year-old Martin Erat. Still incredible.

Oh, not criticizing making the thread. Just adding other minor deals in because they definitely weren't worth their own.

Everytime I hear about Jankowski I’m always surprised he’s still in the league.
 Good for him.

Closing in on 400 games. As others have said, good for him. Not his fault he was drafted in the first round.
Article from Chris Butler about getting to 400.

As I've gotten older, I've enjoyed getting the call up to the Blues more and more, because those games are few and far between. Wearing this jersey wasn't something I thought would happen, so to reach 400 games while wearing the Blue Note and maybe play a few more games, I'm just trying to live it up. I compare it to golf, really. You can go play and shoot an 80 and that's OK, but shooting a 79 sounds so much better.

Well, no, considering that the guys they decided to pass on to get Janko included Teravainen, Hertl, Vasilevsky and Wilson.

They originally dropped down from 14th, correct? Every player picked between 14 and Jankowski has played more games. The next lowest is the goaltender, Vasilevsky. And after that, the next lowest is 661 from Laughton.

Even the two picks right after (Maata and Matheson) have played over 600 games.

IIRC, Flames (or Weisbrod - not sure if he pushed for it or if it was a consensus) had Galchenyuk #1 in that draft.

Weird draft year when you review it.
And in a 2012 re-draft, Jankowski likely goes around mid-2nd round, so not an awful pic at #21.

The Flames trading down from 14 with who was available? That was awful.

Button had Galchenyuk as #1. Wisebrod said Jankowski was "going to be the best player when we look back at the draft 10 years from now." As he had driven through a blizzard to see Ryan Culkin. Feaster was otherwise going to trade the pick for Turris. Everything happens for a reason. The Flames probably don't pick Monahan in 2013 (because they wouldn't have been bad enough). With Turris instead of Jankowski.
