Walman is actually a really good player. He is -1 on the Sharks, that is a feat.
For once they made a good trade.

Kadri didn’t want to go.
Craig didn’t want futures, his goal is to make the playoffs.
Yep, from a rebuilding perspective I can’t say I disagree with the reaction to Ritchie and a first myself, but the talks never even got off the ground from Craig’s end.

Brock Nelson is a better all round player than Kadri, curious as to how you believe his value is lower.

This. The value for Nelson is the number of bidders. Karri is a better player but he comes with term and he can stop any trade. There is not open market bidding for his services. He did that already during free agency.
The Avs are not making the same offer to Calgary because they don’t have to compete with five other teams.
Every year people get upset about trade offers and say that Calgary should have received that deal. Calgary has very little leverage to barter a better deal. It remains with Kadri and any team.

lol, now you are really off your rocker. Detroit gave SJ a 2nd to take him and now they get a first for him. Oilers add another bum while their competitors load up

I would wager it’s because of the familiarity with him. They won a cup with him, he jives with the room and they know how exactly to deploy him. Worth more than a guy you don’t know that much about.
Not a lot of teams that load up with star players at the deadline win it all, so adding a familiar face probably has more vale.

People can't be serious here saying Kadri is better than Nelson.

sure but with no bidding war the value is certainly lower...like there is no debate I don't care if Jesus Christ himself is the insider

All depends on what you as a team see as value.
Sure you’re not bidding against anyone, but if the player you want the other team doesn’t want to give him up, even if you’re the only team asking you have to meet the price.

But in this case the player with total control doesn't want to go to the country your team resides in...I know some of you really want to be mad but you are just making yourself mad for no reason. This deal wasn't available to the Flames for multiple reasons when one reason was enough to shut it down and make the convo irrelevant.
Lord have mercy when Paulie wakes up

I’m not mad at all just saying that kadri might have more value to the Avs for a myriad of reasons. If he doesn’t wanna go he doesn’t have to.
I would like to trade him because
A) I’m intrigued he could get another young piece and I perceive he has value
B) I don’t love his shot selection sometimes
But I do kinda wanna keep him because
A) you need some vets to teach the kids
B) he wants to be here
C) I’ve always liked the player, has a bit of sandpaper and has toned down his shenanigans
So it’s a mixed bag for me personally.

I mean UFAs are being traded, Flames don't have any significant UFAs
