Unless Walman can play goal, how much can he help the Oilers though?

What do they need a goalie for? Just dive and send out the McPowerPlay.
NHL's favourite team, remember.

2024-Jun-25 Traded from Detroit Red Wings with round 2 pick in the 2024 draft (Leo Sahlin Wallenius) to San Jose Sharks for future considerations
Ultimately a first and second round pick for nothing. Damn, bravo SJ.

Still don't get why Detroit felt like they needed to add a 2nd round pick to Walman to move him last year
I like Walman and think this isn't terrible for Edmonton even if a 1st is not cheap to pay

Because we build our entire roster out of depth guys. Can't trade them away, cause then we just need to trade for another one.

Guy was on waivers a few years ago in St. Louis and Detroit had to give up a 2nd to dump his salary but the Oilers paid a first for him... hilarious. One year putting up points in an environment with zero pressure or expectations has clearly made his value skyrocket

When Detroit traded Walman to SJS, I was quite disappointed weren't the ones talking to Stevie at the time. Now it feels even worse.
Any talk of capitalizing on our cap space is utter BS.

You hope Parekh, Brz, or Mews become him over the next couple years once we’re ready to contend

As long as they keep rolling Bouchard out there north of 20 mins a game they are going to lose a ton of hockey games. PP specialist and complete defensive liability, like worst defense skills on the game type of PO specialist.

Think that was less the Flames not being willing and more Yzerman making a mistake.
It's been reported lots of teams would have taken Walman on for free without the second attached and that Yzerman just called up San Jose and went "will you take Walman + a second" and Grier went sure.
Had Yzerman properly shopped Walman than no way it would have taken a second attached to him to move him.
