No, see, this way they can have secret funding deals for the religious hospitals that give them things like "bonuses for not murdering babies and the suffering." Best to make them suffer more. Rural hospitals will all be run by the churchies, and well funded with the extra taxpayer dollars rung out of the cities. You can already hear the pleas from UCP MLAs, and Smith will ensure they stay happy.

It would be an interesting experiment to have both Canada and the USA open up citizenship and allow anyone to freely move for a given period of time unencumbered. I wonder what the migration between the two countries would look like?

Two problems with that... Canada can't handle the infrastructure for 40 million Americans, and the ones that are left are likely to start bombing Toronto, because they saw an image of Jesus in a potato.

I think that's probably not a good idea from our perspective. I strongly suspect the folks who decided to move here would be those for whom socialized medicine is extremely attractive - the old/poor/sick would be much more likely to make the move. Our health care system is managing, but it couldn't take the influx of all the Americans with critical illnesses who are getting screwed by their system.

The RCMP has launched a probe into the Alberta health contracting allegations. The only thing helping the UCP now is that the trade war and tariffs are overshadowing the situation. Otherwise, this would be a huge story.
