Trump’s just stupid enough to believe that.

He says a lot of things. It’s coming “folks, they backed down and we don’t need to escalate”.

Tariffs off again?

Good night Wesley. I'll most likely kill you in the morning.

Also one good thing is with tourism. Most Cdns aren't going to travel down there when the Orange Rapist is in charge but most Americans will prob still come up to Canada because our dollar is so low.

We will have to rename Regina to Vagina, and Edmonton to Pussies because the rapist likes grabbing them.

Which honestly only told Ford okay this is something the US is concerned about. I guess that explains why they went ahead and said they're putting the export tax on today.

I'd literally not back down until all tariff talk is done with. Screw this back and forth every month stupidity.

Yeah but he's one of the few Trump supporters publically saying the tariffs are bad. The rest of those MAGA morons are acting like Trump is god and refuse to call him on his bull####.

One of the best Simpsons episodes ever made, IMO.

One does wonder how this is all going to play out since Trump needs the 'its about the drugs' card to claim the tariffs are for national security reasons.

Not that any of the bootlickers in Congress would actually stand up to his stupidity.

I wonder if Canada could file a lawsuit in US Federal court to debunk Fentanyl as a reason to apply Tariffs?

I believe the Democrats were talking about it.

My understanding is that tariffs are the business of Congress, but in the last USMCA agreement there was a provision put in where the President could issue tariffs for national security reasons.

At this point you'd think even the GOP could tell him to back off because it is hurting their states.

Eventually the fentanyl/national security horse*** isn’t going to work anymore. Can’t remember where I read it, but it sounds like Canada has filed a dispute with the WTO over the illegality of the Americans breaking their existing trade agreement. Trump and the GOP know that their national emergency excuse is a load of bunk and that they don’t have a leg to stand on in regards to their reasoning.

My guess is that they’ll keep pulling the 30-day reprieve crap for as long as they can before finding some kind of an an off-ramp to save face, likely with the renegotiation of USMCA.

They’ll then spin it as a win to soothe Trump’s ego and the MAGA cult will applaud. “See? He’s the best deal maker ever!”

The provision isn't part of USMCA. It's part of IEEPA, a Carter era law from 1977.

Trump used IEEPA to grant himself these powers.

What's annoying is that all it takes is a single member of Congress to force a vote on a joint resolution to rescind the 'emergency' that Trump is alleging under IEEPA to force these tariffs. It would force the Republicans to stand up and be counted as to whether or not they are complicit in the economic pain that this is causing Americans.

Why they still haven't done this, who f-cking knows.

Yea, you’d think that something has to give at some point in regards to the GOP in Congress, especially representatives whose states are most affected by the tariffs like Kentucky, etc… Eventually one of these clowns needs to put on his big boy pants and say enough is enough. Sadly that’s probably asking for too much from these morons.

I think we should Export Tarrif potash. Trump removed the Tarrif from it because the US imports 80% of their potash from us and alternatives are more expensive. It also hits the heart of his support.

It’s likely an opportunity where the price recieved by nutrium wouldn’t be affected too much and if it’s the Tarrif could just be paid back to them.
