News Roundup

NHL Rumors: Calgary Flames, Los Angeles Kings and the Carolina Hurricanes

Calgary Flames GM Craig Conroy said that team has done great this year and the plan is to reward them heading into the deadline, but it has to make sense with their overall plan.

Instant Reaction: Flames offence soars against Flyers

Across the first four games of the Calgary Flames’ road trip, they scored four goals. In the first period of the fifth game, Tuesday night against the Philadelphia Flyers, they scored four goals.

3 weird Flames moves from NHL trade deadline history

The NHL’s trade deadline is the final chance for teams to make roster tweaks in advance of the stretch drive and the Stanley Cup playoffs. As such, teams end up making a lot of big moves in the run-up to this date.
They also make some weird moves.

Weighing the pros and cons of trading Rasmus Andersson at this year’s NHL trade deadline

Rasmus Andersson has been a great Calgary Flame throughout his seven seasons with the club. He is the only drafted and developed defenceman currently in their lineup and is undoubtedly a fan favourite. His value to the team and the city of Calgary is substantial, but with the deadline now just days away, it’s time for management to decide if he’s more beneficial to the team on the ice than he would be in a trade.

How can the Flames balance present and future at the NHL trade deadline?

The Calgary Flames likely headed into the 2024-25 season looking for a bit of calm after a pretty tumultuous past few seasons.
Here’s a snapshot of the chaos the club had to deal with during the previous seasons:

Expect to see some minor Wranglers transactions by the Flames before the NHL trade deadline

If your hockey club isn’t a sure-fire Stanley Cup playoffs participant, the run-up to the NHL’s trade deadline is all about maximizing flexibility.
The Calgary Flames are, as of this writing, in a playoff spot. They are, however, far from a sure thing. There’s a decent chance they may miss the playoffs, while there’s a better chance that their American Hockey League affiliate, the Calgary Wranglers, will qualify for the Calder Cup playoffs. As such, we’re expecting some minor moves to maintain roster flexibility for both the NHL and AHL clubs.

Lots of teams chasing for that last wildcard spot. Go Flames.

Dallas has averaged 5 goals a game for their last 8 games. We might need to score 6 again.

Wolf going to need to bring his A+ game for this one. Hopefully he stands on his head and steals us a point.

Day dreaming while looking at the standings this AM.

Boy it would be cool to see MTL, OTT and CGY sneak into the playoffs and have every Canadian team but Vancouver make it.

They are so far below average for shooting percentage, that tells me eventually they’ve start moving to average. So they might finish strong this season.

6.9% versus a median of about 8.5% around the league.

An Oilers collapse and miss would be the greatest. Connor trade request would come this summer for sure

I'll be in Calgary tonight on business. Any suggestions for where to watch the Flames game? Preferably in the SE - Seton area.

One last showcase? Or just a rest for Wolf after not his best showing

The Oilers signing him to an $18M+AAV for 8 years would be far far better of an outcome for Flame fans than the Oilers moving him for a haul and resetting their cap structure.

Tommyfield in Seton is probably the best bet there.

Or Berwick in Cranston.

Or Banquet in Mahogany.

This is kinda what I thought might happen, Wolf got the win with not his best performance but Vladar has been playing great too so I'm cool with him getting a shot again..
