I seriously can't wait for Afterburners after playoff games, especially when we get to rds 2, 3 and 4 (if that's not this year).
Sorry I didn't watch last night. Call me a pouter, I have a hard time watching Afterburner or anything sports related after a loss. I was extra mad last night (right around when Weegs slapped one of the hats, that was enough for me).
The irony is I think our best shows are after losses.
Fair! And I don't think Backs is beyond criticism etc. But I just don't think everyone has to lead in the same sorta cookie cutter way that Rhett seems to think.
But I feel like Rhett has always had a side eye for Backlund. It's like Backlund as a rookie said he didn't wanna go our with Rhett and he took it personally.

I’d just like to know what about him we should believe is inspiring or how he’s leading the team. Like what does he do? I think in the other thread we got some advance stats or something but I can’t imagine actual hockey players giving a rats about those numbers when you are on the bench actually watching the captain go through the motions and float around.
Woah look at that positioning! Amazing! I really like how he meanders around listlessly!
This is a good example of the disconnect between advanced stats (or any stats) and what the eyes test shows us. Like, we’re watching him, we know he isn’t trying very hard because we can see his arms and legs and how they move. That’s usually how we know if people are working hard or not. He’s just not, I dunno what to tell you. And if you think he is we just disagree and I think your expectations are insanely low for a NHL player let alone captain.

Advanced stats aren’t prescriptive, they’re descriptive. They’re just telling the whole story. The eye test is unreliable, tells only a portion of the story, and is subject to the whims of unreliable narrators.
If hockey players don’t give a rats about advanced stats, which again, are just the story of what’s actually happening on the ice, I can guarantee they give even less of one about the “eye test” conducted by random fans and observers.
