Maybe Canada should just stop talking to the USA for a bit. Let them sit on this for a minute.

I'm sorry guys, I gotta share a conversation with a Trumper/conspiracy loon coworker. He was arguing that Trump has a plan and is very methodical with every moves he makes, he's actually brilliant. I was pleading with him to understand that Trump is borderline special needs and is making up #### as he goes, to give him so much credit is ridiculous.
Anyways, he stated that all elections are completely staged and any individual vote counts for nothing as it's all the illuminati etc. that call the shots. I ask him then why did Trump campaign so hard and why was he caught on audio tape in 2021 asking the Georgia secretary of state to "find him votes"?
My coworker said things like that are all theater, all staged. I guess Trump is also a brilliant actor. How do you argue with this baloney?

Exactly. I wouldn't even pick up the phone if the preemptive is the US meeting halfway on tariffs. The response should be that you know where Canada stands, our retaliatory measures aren't budging and very publicly announce you are meeting with Mexico to discuss new trade arrangements.

Because corporate America, governors of rust belt and liquor states are going to be pissed as it becomes crystal clear that the bottom line is going to be severely impacted. I'd let him sweat for a week and put the calls straight to voicemail.
Nobody is relocating significant operations on things like automotive and technology that rely on huge global supply chains, cheap labor and weaker currency to maintain efficiency and top profit margins.

You have to try to remove emotion from even the toughest negotiation and remember what the goal is. The goal is to go back to free trade.
Sometimes acting tough is a great negotiation tactic, sometimes it's fatal. In this case, negotiating with someone like trump is so unpredictable I think that your tactics need to change by the hour. Hard to say what the best approach is, but maybe tell him he looked fabulous on TV and say you saw Melania couldn't stop staring at him. For a moment, you thought he was a Greek god with golden hair.

Of course, butter him up and talk nice all you want, but negotiating like you are just going to take this as a one off and reload for April isn't the way to do it with Trump. He needs to realize that Canada isn't backing down and isn't going to take this so it stops.

Ask him if the 6 bankruptcies were all just a long play to become President, because Americans respect failures?
Also ask about the underpants gnomes, because he may just have a hilarious theory on that. In fact, hit all the hits like chem trails and 5G. Take him for beers to get the really good ones, perhaps some Hollow Earth action.

So Fat Donny is now blaming Canada and Mexico for all the fentanyl deaths in the US. Ha. Ha. Ha. Misguided, pathetic Fat Donny. Keep spinning everything and maybe the next US health crisis will be aura migraines. Drug war, BS! All big fat BS so they can avoid Congress.

Your coworker has an untreated mental illness and likely should be seeking therapy and possibly medication.

Do the Flames serve American booze like JD at the dome? If yes, will they stop?
I think beer is almost all Canadian right? Isn’t original 16 the official beer?

I always seek out the Banded Peak stand. It's only a buck or two more than the main draft taps, but way better.
The problem is that they are ALWAYS out lol.

Reading between the lines here, Trump said the call ended somewhat friendly. I think this call went very badly.

I don't support the all out stopping of sending power to the U.S. but some planned blackouts at unpredictable times might get their attention. Like 5 to 9 AM on a Thursday morning or 6 to 11 on a Saturday Evening. 1 to 3 on a Tuesday afternoon. Essentially unpredictable chaos so they see others can play their game and how fun it is.
