Which is kind of funny in a historical context. Marda Loop received its name from the streetcar track loop back in the day (the #7 line).

Interesting, I hadn't heard that until now. Maybe the CBC is using shear force of will to make it happen.

Is it that bad though? A single bus (#22), about 20 minutes to the heart of downtown, no connections. Max Yellow gets you to other places too.
Edit: 66 is even faster once you get to the stop along Crowchild.
Of course a train/tram would be great (even if a pipe dream), but "wealthy Marda Loopers" probably wouldn't take it anyway.

Scott Dippel is a well known City Hall reporter so I have to assume it's legit.

i know. it just seems so far removed from the likes of Mission, Beltline, Kensington, and Bridgeland.

It is a bit farther out, for sure. The others that you mention are all a reasonable walk to downtown as well, whereas Marda Loop would be do-able on foot, but that's quite the hike. And hilly.

I've messaged him for clarification. Perhaps he was just partaking in some wishful thinking.

Oh my God! We've got too many people now! Look, I get it, we have few natural barriers to expansion but at some point this gets nuts.

I dunno, looks like plenty of room for them in Lake Bonavista when they fill it in, and perhaps some condos at Glenmore Landing.

We're in the clear now, for like 6 months until they take another run at it with a new council? I'm fine with Lake Bonavista though. Can't we just fill in that slough and build some houses and roads there? It would help control the mosquito population and we could eliminate a bunch of leeches all at the same time.

It would take an almost 8% growth rate to get to 3M in 10 years ....that's a crazy high number from Farkas.

Yeah. I think 3MM is a near certainty but probably 20-25 years not 10. Maybe a bit faster if we annex Airdrie.

According to the Liberal party, you're all disgusting unCanadian racists. You'll take your millions of low skill low wage immigrants so they can mark the 100 million on their bingo card and you'll ####ing like it too.

Considering the increase crime that comes with a free access to your neighborhood via the LRT, they probably don't want that at all.

At times you really strike me as someone who lives life in fear that something terrible is going to happen to you if you go outside. I’m hopeful that’s not actually the case but man you really seem to obsess on crime reporting and related worse case scenario doom and gloom predictions.

You sound like the people on my community Facebook page.
Surveillance cameras show a car pulling up, the passenger gets out and attempts to steal a car.
"We didn't have this problem before the c-train."
Or when someone had an entire freezer and the meat within it stolen from their garage.
The LRT is blamed because... clearly it was.... walked back to the train station?

The residents probably more would dread the 786 years of building the tram the city’s top notch project managers would take.
What did they even do on 33rd that took 2 years? Some sidewalks look minimally nicer.

If we really want to hurt the Americans we should give them water from Lake Bonavista.
