Boston wants a 1st - I feel like there's teams that may pay that, but not Calgary at this point.

Yes - Flames have called on Carlo, price is the main discussion point still but there was traction.
Yes - Flames are looking to move Miromanov, just no fit long term - Little value though
Yes - Flames have fielded multiple calls on Vladar - With Cooley struggling though I'm not certain Flames move him for anything less than a 2nd
Yes - Craig remains interested in young players to help the retool, same names we've heard previously though I will say Rossi remains a player they continue to call about. His availability remains up in the air.
No - I don't believe for a second that Craig wouldn't move a Vet for the right pieces, but he wont move them for free or in a bad deal.
|
The Rossi thing is interesting. I haven't heard he was available to any degree which would imply calgary calling originally. If they keep calling then they didn’t outright say no? No?

Vladar likely moved based on interest? Not sure what the return would be other than a 2nd rounder at best.

I could see a Canucks' type move where they flip one asset for futures, flip those futures for Carlo.
So Vladar/Miromanov for a pick, the gains from that trade go to Boston for Carlo.
Something to this effect.

Good. I'd be pretty pissed if we used a 1st on Carlo, especially at his age and our team building cycle.
I get it though, he's a big tough defensive d-man. Perfect for a playoff run. Just not a good fit for the Flames.

Recovering the 2nd round pick given up in the Frost/Farabee trade by moving Vladar would be genius. I don't think he is worth that but if someone is willing to pay...
Cooley has been tailing off but there should be veteran goalies available for free as well.

Why would they pay to get rid of him now? They're in no situation to need to do that this year.

2.5 years left at $5.9M, playing him in the minors, likely wanting to sell off what they can, open that space? Just a thought.

Doubt anything in season. They're out of the playoff hunt so they don't need cap room. Maybe in the offseason, but even in the offseason, they really don't need cap space unless they go Rantanen hunting.
Lol. I just googled Seattle Kraken Rantanen and Google's AI tells me that Mikko Rantanen was Seattle's very first draft pick in 2021. Facts don't matter with AI!

agreed that it would piss us all off on this reported cost.
but can we all agree that when CC says he wants to re-sign a player or is interested in a player it is with the caveat that it is at the RIGHT PRICE...until he proves me wrong, i will give him the benefit of the doubt.
and not saying you are like this, just quoted because i was agreeing with you.

I think a Caveat is that Carlo could be traded down the line for similar or greater assets. I don't think Conroy is against give and go type deals.
Especially considering Kuzemenko was dealt, and they are talking about moving Miromanov.

Yeah, good post. I don't mind the Flames kicking tires on most players who aren't rentals. Kicking tires is how you get a deal. Conroy (like Treleving) reminds me of Alex Anthropolous... talking to everyone and in on a lot of things to see if there's a good deal.
Guys like this are often called first when a player goes on the block.

Wasn't there an Adnersson to the Caps floated around in here?
Andersson for Miroshnichenko ++
I don't think Either Leonard or Cristall are available at all.

Carlo seems to be a little underrated, here. He's a solid second pairing defenseman, somewhere between Tanev and Gudbransen in impact. He allows other players to play a more offensive game. You need half of your d-core to be guys like him.
As much as we like Bruz, Mews, Parehk and Porier, half of the defense is going to be Weegar, Carlo, Grushnikov and Solovyov or Kuznetsov.
That's a winning recipe.

The Flames aren’t a second pairing dman away from anything. If he was 25 or something then I’d least understand it
