If the Flames can’t win this one, I hope any talk of adding some short term help (depth D) ends.
I see a team working hard and losing. I think we can do that without some of the vets.
They also have the vacant look on their faces like they don’t know the answer.
The answer is drive the net, play north south, put the puck somewhere safe and check. All the hard things that old decrepit bodies and soft players don’t like to do. No more stupid blind passes, middle of the ice plays, getting the puck 3 feet out of the zone and then giving it back to the opposition with cute intercepted passes.

Our defence is awful, our offence is anemic but our goalies are playing well. So...we've got that going for us...which is nice.

Conroy says he is looking to add, to help the team’s playoff push, with guys under 26.
The only players fitting that description that are available are on short contracts, or that are underplaying their contracts (Farabee, Cozens).
Maybe ‘mid-term’ is better, but I don’t see a Carlo for example as being part of the long term success of the Flames.
Flames are early enough in this rebuild that they should be thinking about the contender that will hopefully be ready in 4-5 years rather than the mid team that’s being held up by outstanding goaltending right now.

At this point, I'd love the Flames to win and push for that WC spot.
But if they lose this game, they might be better served going back to a goalie rotation and giving AHL guys a tryout.

I don't want to blame Huska but I'm not sure he deserves credit either. They lack talent but work hard. Their goal tending is good and everything else is bad. I don't think Huska is choosing the best players and combinations. I don't understand why Farabee in particular continues to be a lock for top 9, pp time or even in the line-up consistently.
