Wait but has the government done anything in the month pause to help soften the blow? Serious question, I would like to know. I would assume some of the meetings with European leaders were aimed at that goal.

Yes they sold Trump on a plan that we already announced in December and would name a fentanyl czar.
How are you supposed to stop something that isn’t happening. They are dealing with a bully and nut job who has no clue what he is doing.
They are going to place counter tariff .
Did PP tell us what he would do? Fall at Trumps feet and beg? Give up a couple of provinces.

Absolutely they were. From what I understand, Canadian officials have been meeting with their EU and UK counterparts over the last several weeks. Trudeau also met with Macron when he was in Brussels recently, and has had private conversations with British PM Starmer in that time as well.
Ecuador is another country that we just signed a new trade deal with in late February.
https://www.reuters.com/world/americ...ed-2025-02-02/
Around the same time, we also sent a trade delegation to Australia.

Really critical now that all levels of government in Canada seriously reduce permit and approval costs and wait times in all sectors.
Red tape needs to be cut.
Canada must be seen as investor friendly, stable and open for business.

If the tariffs are still in place when the election is called I can’t see any scenario where the Cons win. I know they might have a few MAGA supporters they don’t want to offend but they’re going to lose unless they confront Trump.

As a dummy bystander, it really looks like we could help save our country by ramming an east west pipeline in wherever we can.

feel for him? #### that backwoods far right pandering, maga bootlicking piece of crap.
maybe if he and the party came up with well thought out policies and plans instead of doing nothing but coming out with trump style catch phrases.
He spent all this time telling us over and over Canada is broken without providing any solutions. No wonder he's in this situation.

Versus Carney's policies which are the Liberal policies which have us largely in the mess we are in today? No options for export largely other than US thanks to Liberals. A cost of living that's outrageous thanks to Liberals' taxation after taxation.
Oh and Carney is only going to tax heavy industry because that won't cost people money. Of course it will! The problem is, most people continue to believe a windbag like him and Trudeau and the Liberals who continue to spout lies....but it sounds good so let's believe it and then they can screw us later.
How about anyone that votes Liberals can pay for my increased cost of living since apparently you are all OK with it. Absolutely ludicrous.

What a load of BS.
What's ludicrous is not seeing the writing on the wall and voting for a party that will absolutely hand our country over to Trump on a silver platter.

Like the Cons with PP have any sort of plan to lower your cost of living. They can spout all the catchy sayings they want, but they have no plan or ability to counter trump or better your quality of life.
Given the choices, I'll take the person with the education and experience who may help us out of this mess over someone like PP who can only work in sound bites who can't and won't help us out of this mess.
PP brings to mind a quote from Macbeth as everything he says
"Is a tale told by an idiot, fulll of sound and fury, signifying nothing"

This is interesting, because really all that matters is voter perception. Truth doesn't matter, so if 55% of voters think PP would have voted for Trump, that is going to be a near impossible bar to clear. And given the trajectory, this is going to be a heavier and heavier millstone to carry. This is actually way higher than I would have guessed.

Macbeth? Simmer only understands information delivered in three word catchphrases and you’re quoting Shakespeare like some highfalutin book-learned elite?

Oh, lookie what the traitorous rag owned by Americans put out. I guess it's time to mark all news from them as probable propaganda. They can not be trusted. Perhaps we should nationalize them.

I don't necessarily disagree. However with Carney you have to be weary of a few things. In my mind you can't on one side of the mouth declare Trump's presidency is the utmost existential threat to Canadian sovereignty at the same time have stuff like implementing a carbon tariff and other greenfare projects in your platform.
If this is really an existential moment for Canadian sovereignty, it's not the time nor place to prioritize climate action in any way ahead of commercial projects aimed at diversifying our trade, arming our military, and using emergency powers to build pipelines to diversify markets for oil and gas. We need to make it as a sovereign country to 2050 to be net zero in 2050. Carney's ability to put on the backburner essentially his post-BoC & BoE life's work for the sake of the country is really my barometer on his viability for my vote (which is up for grabs at this point for the right policies).
