Well that's 1 report vs. 3 or 4 I read . Dallas had interest and had been linked for at least aonth before the Jones trade went down
Heck, there were Dallas rumors the day before.

If the Flames retain, Andersson costs them 2M next season, Jones would have been 7.15.

Really hope Conroy pulls a Nashville from a few years ago. I believe they were 9th or 10th at deadline and they traded everyone.
Get that flame going, make it a wild week for us fans. Imagine waking up on trade deadline day and these players are gone:
- Andersson
- Coleman
- Kadri
- Mirananov
- Hanley
- Backlund
We would be going into the off season with a new core, bunch of 1st/2nd round picks and atleast 5 years younger as a team.
Not going to happen, but one can wish.

Might make Rasmus more interesting to them.
Rasmus at 2.5x2 is very attractive for a team dealing with managing their cap.

Truthfully I’d be happy with that trade without the protected first but I’m no GM 😂

I suck at reading I didn’t see Andersson in the deal. I suppose value wise that does work but I just can’t see the Flames moving both of those vets for that package.

So if/when Andersson is traded do we call it the Andersson trade tree of the Sven Baertchi trade tree. Thank you Vancouver. Always the gift that keeps on giving.

I’m kinda amazed there were no trades today. Thought over weekend some GMs might have hammered something together

Seems like a normal thing that happens at the deadline. A few trades happen and we get excited for more moves and it goes quiet until the deadline.

I feel like over the past few seasons trades have been happening in the evening more for whatever reason, so we could still see something in theory.

I think what Conroy really wants is a team to take the decision out of his hands on Andersson and make a godfather offer for him for 50% retained.
I really wonder about Detroit and Ottawa.
Both teams are desperate to make the playoffs, both teams have a big need for a top 4 RH dman.
Detroit:
Chiarot - Seider
Edvinsson - Johansson
Gustafsson - Holl
Ottawa:
Sandersson - Zub
Chabot - Bernard-Docker
Hamonic - Matinpalo
Both teams have decent assets the Flames likely would be interested in too. Going back to the offseason I thought Ottawa, Detroit, and Buffalo were the teams with the biggest need for Andersson and I wonder now with Ottawa and Detroit battling for that playoff spot if you could get a bit of a bidding war going.

I feel like Ottawa would spend a very significant amount to get hometown boy Weegar who is signed for 6 more years at a very nice number. For that reason I wouldn’t want to deal him but everyone talking about Andersson going I do think if a team made an offer they couldn’t t refuse it could be Weegar who the other team is after?

Reilly Smith removed from Rangers roster presumably for trade related reasons.

I guess we disagree because for me, the remaining roster the Flames would ice would be a disaster and very unenjoyable to watch...

I am fine with trading a vet or two, but that's where it stops for me. I don't want this team stripped down to the studs.
I don't think any vet gets traded anyway - at least not by the deadline. I will be surprised if it happens. I do home that Conroy does pull out a peg or two in the off-season, however. I would love a legitimate shot at McKenna, and be able to enjoy watching him play in Calgary for 10+ years. McKenna + Parekh + Wolf would be tantalizing and god-damn entertaining. I can live with a year of sacrifice. I enjoy watching kids play in the NHL, even when they lose, so I guess I don't hate it as much as some people do.
I just don't think you need to knock it all the way down to the ground next season. Lots of room for vets to stay on-board and continue showing these kids what it means to be a pro. That's why I would also hate to lose Pospisil - I see him on many trade proposals, but for me, it would take an over-payment to make me accept losing him. It is not what he does in games that makes me want to keep him, but how this kid is wired - plays hard, practices just as hard, and trains hard. He is at the age where he is a legitimate option to keep through the rebuild. By then, he will still likely be in his prime, and will probably also be a leader.
I think it is important to keep the culture going strong through a rebuild. I will say this, however - if there is ever a time to just tank and not worry about anything else, it is the next two drafts after this one - McKenna and Dupont consecutively is probably worth the pain and risk.
This season - and with the Flames just in a playoff spot - I doubt anything big happens. Probably no vets get moved (at least not the core guys that we talk about as being the leadership group). I am starting to think that Vladar doesn't get moved either, and that's the one guy I thought would get moved for sure. If Hanley's name is out there, I bet he does get moved - I think he is a legitimately good 6th/7th guy. Miromanov I see being moved only for a change of scenery, or just someone to balance out the contracts/cap. I don't think someone offers a pick, but you never know with depth defencemen I guess at the deadline.

Thoughts on a Vladar haul? I think there is a good chance we promote Cooley and trade Vladar this week. I think Vladar would welcome the change. I think he might fetch a small ransom after his last few stellar outings . I have no idea what that looks like but guesses?
A first, a second,a third a prospect???? What’s a good back up goalie worth today?
