Can't we just assume they can count right shot defensemen and understand they don't need one as it stands?
If so then the rumour is bunk, or it's part of a multiple move that has the Flames making space before acquiring say Carlo.
I don't see it likely that the don't know their own roster.

Classic Rhett44 and Paulie freaking out over rumors was my point
I believe the "flames can do no wrong" when they haven't done anything. I mean you were using the Jones rumors of some slight against management too.
I will have a strong opinion when a move is actually made.

It doesn't make sense was my comment, not sure how that is freaking out.
You go into every thread and turn it into a pissing match if people have a different opinion than you.

Do I get the hedging of bets and kicking tires on the likes of Jones or Carlo? You betcha I do. Just don't necessarily agree with it as I want them to keep those spots open for what's coming.
But, I do trust Conroy and his plan. It'll be fun to watch his next set of moves to see where he's taking this ship.
And I do think LHS/RHS pairing are important. But you can get away with having 2 of your 3 pairings built that way. Doesn't have to be all 3 pairings of lefty/righties. But it should be 2/3rds at minimum.
|
We tried that lefty righty thing, and it resulted in sending a 1st and 2 2nds for Hamonic.
I also look at how Colorado found a partner for Makar, it doesn't have to be a defensive dman.
If you have a top pairing that can skate, stick check and push the puck up ice I think that is a form of defending.
I don't know what is happening with Byram in Buffalo and why his name keeps coming up, but that could be a target for a LHS for Parekh.

Dude you post 100 times a day in the top 10 pick thread about the Flames being hell bent on making the playoffs despite mountains of evidence that says otherwise.
And what opinion is different than mine? Did I say I wanted Carlo? My opinion is based on what Conroy has actually done not some rando rumors. The Flames have 4 first round picks the next two years, 20M in cap space, and have gotten younger this season.
This idea that they are doing everything possible to squeak into the playoffs couldn't be further from the truth.

One terrible decision by an old GM doesn't negate the wide spread and preferred logic of a lefty/righty pairing.

Yup, you can't dish "classic Flames posts" while being immune to being called out for classic dino slants.
People are allowed to be not immediately satisfied or call it the best move because the Flames are sniffing around it.
For a reasonable price, I think its a good add. But someone probably has to be going out to accommodate it and the side he plays on does factor in.

It’s because you have demonstrated, fairly consistently, a tendency to overreact. You also seem to have a singular view of what management should be doing with a condescending undertone to anything that doesn’t align with your view.
Do you actually think you know something Conroy doesn’t?

There is no move, this isn't happening...I don't want Carlo, I'm calling out the constant bashing of things that haven't happened.
If the Flames wanted to make the playoffs at all costs they have 1sts and money to throw around...more than almost anyone. THEY WONT be doing that though

WE used to have one of the highest scoring defence, another reason why our team has trouble scoring.
With the guys we have in the pipeline we probably have the pieces to have that type of defence again.

Right.
Y
ou are the one attacking someone for saying it doesn't make sense when the GM said he is looking for a LHS D.
That is all I said. Feel free to block me if you have a huge issue.

Difference between youtube trade rumours and message board rumours on display haha. He sees the tweet and fires up the webcam saying 'TRADE IMMINENT' and we see it on here and our reaction is 'yeah that's not happening'.

The only way acquiring Carlo makes sense is if they are planning on dealing Andersson and are basically going to swap pieces like Andersson to team b, team b’s first to Boston, Carlo plus team b prospect/pick to Calgary. In a scenario like that, why not. If it’s say trading nj’s first to Boston for Carlo, that makes zero sense.

Dialog for sure, imminent not so much.
Flames wont be giving up a 1st for Carlo, Boston would like a 1st or early 2nd from what I've been told.

I think that's actually a fundamental flaw the Flames have in team building though. Scoring from the back end should be secondary, not heavily relied upon. Just like Edmonton being a one trick Pony of relying on scoring from 2 or 3 players, you can't go too deep without most of the offense coming from the FW group. Flames need more firepower from the front lines. And the defensive playing a better prevent game in their own end.
