I think you guys put way too much weight into what people say to the media.
I don't think they are looking to move some guys, including due to trade protection.
For someone like Rasmus - they would move him if their price is met. And that price is high.

Playoff qualifier and playoff contender are totally different things. The Flames have ZERO chance of going anywhere in the playoffs. And get to lose a higher draft pick to MTL in the process.

We are one on the lowest scoring teams in the NHL, I dont think we're much of a contender.
I was hoping that we would be trying to build to be a cup contender one day.
Not build another wildcard contender.

Given the Markstrom circus and the hard feelings that followed when he ultimately wasn't traded by the deadline, I would assume Conroy is going to lean toward an approach that he's not trading anyone, until he does. As in to say, things aren't going to be so public going forward.

Yeah that was bad. It didn't help the other GM was so public about things.
Only difference is and we don't know is that Andersson doesn't seem like he wants to leave.

I suspect his view is both conflicted and fluid.
He likes the city. He likes the team and his team-mates.
He likes having a prominent role
But most of his career has been spent out of the playoffs. He wants to have a chance to win.
How this season ends could alter whatever his current POV is.
I don't think he "wants out" but I also don't think that means he wants to stay long-term.

So Andersson NTC is a 6 team no trade. I'm assuming EDM and Vancouver take 2 of them. I wonder who the other 4 are.

Honestly who cares if Montreal moves up 5 spots or whatever? Its a sunk cost. Devils pick and Flames pick might be pretty similar anyway.
