It probably depends what you want for Andersson.
You might get a bigger package now, but it's like going to be a worse draft pick.
Where if you wait until the draft the overall package might be fewer pieces but a team
That missed the playoffs that want to take a step might be willing to move a top 15 pick

Not trading vets? Like Hanifin, Lindholm, Zadorov, Tanev, Markstrom, Toffoli?
There are maybe three tradable vets. Backlund, Coleman and Andersson. None of them are expiring contracts this season.

If all things are equal re: prices now vs summer, its pretty clear he'll ride this group to the end, whether thats playoffs or not.

I'd prefer selling vets if the offers are good, but understand wanting to insulate the young guys and have them playing meaningful hockey down the stretch.
However I think they should be shopping Anderson now. It feels like a repeat of the Hanifin situation. Set a high price and trade him if someone meets the ask. Otherwise stick to the plan and play meaningful hockey down the stretch.

If the prices won’t go down in the summer then he is basically saying blow me away with an offer that can’t be refused.

No no no- obviously the best way to get good value is to say you are desperate to move vets.

Crazy American do what they say they are going to do.
If Conroy thinks this team is anymore than cannon fodder, that makes him crazy. Not trading vets from this team confirms it.

Anderson has a trade clause. He’s not going to waive for just any team. I don’t mind if they wait for draft. I think the longer it goes past the draft the more likely if a hanifin type return becomes reality. I personally want it done now so , re-signing him is off the table.

I hope it's M-NTC from now on for new contracts. Guaranteed money and full control over movement is too much.

I’m still FOR keeping a few vets around not named Kadri or Huberdeau, no matter what the plan is. You need a few guys with ties to the organization to teach the kids coming up. I don’t think a cheap vet brought in on a UFA deal is the same thing.

I'm wondering/hoping if the plan is to go for playoffs with Andersson, then trade him for a 1st round pick this summer, then pull off the fabled "trade-up" scenario at the draft to bundle other 1st round picks together to move up and get just inside the top-10 or around there if their guy has slipped.
Then both camps are potentially happy. Playoffs + high drafted Centre prospect. Maybe with his injury woes, a guy like McQueen slips?
One can dream.
That, or Andersson is the core piece in a trade around a 20-25 centre this summer.
Would be thrilled with either outcome, if he isn't traded at this deadline. Which is sounding more and more likely that he isn't moving this week.

The only place his trade clause is stopping him from going is Buffalo. It’s only 6 teams.

Buffalo is in a tough spot. What legitimate top 6 player with a clause would waive to go there?

Who?
How has that worked for other teams, like Chicago, who were supposed to be doing that? You need good veterans, who can teach, not just warm bodies.
So who is a good fit you’d want around your young players and is available?

That’s why I don’t think Cozens gets traded. I can’t imagine they want a guy like Zegras either.

I would bet Winnipeg is on there too.
So quite possibly two of the most logical landing spots.

I am torn on Winnipeg for him. He already lives in Canada and they are a great team. I guess it depends on if he is good hitting free agency or wants an eight year deal. I’d agree if it is the latter.

And it also depends on what Winnipeg wants. I'm not sure they will pay a good price if they aren't confident that he has interest in staying there long-term.
But at minimum, I bet he's got them on his list.
