It could be argued that the Sharangovich contract (which with each passing game is looking more and more like a smaller version of the Huby contract) was a win-now move.
Conny's one blunder in an otherwise good tenure for him thus far. I'm happy with the work he's done for the most part.

What position are we in? He can’t stomach a rebuild.
Can’t even answer how we get elite players outside of being Vegas an expansion team.
Hilarious how you sit quiet when people make up stuff I say but you keep coming to this guys defence. Weird n

What do you expect, when the poster can’t even stand behind what they say.

Now you're attacking straw men. I didn't see anybody saying that. I did see someone saying that free agents wouldn't want to sign with a losing team, which seems perfectly in line with the facts – especially for a small-market Canadian team. Calgary is not an attractive free-agent destination at the best of times.

What fact is that in line with ? UFAs sign every year with the worse teams. So they don’t want to…. But they do ?
And Flames have not had problems signing UFAs . Again - where is the fact showing this ?
Please show the fact the UFAs don’t sign with teams that rebuild

Calgary has signed plenty of free agents. Just because Johnny left and Sutter chased Tkachuk out of town doesn’t change that fact.

You also said this:
‘Teams' inability to be bad is because of Wolf.’
That there is a flip-flop. Either Wolf doesn't prevent the team from tanking, or he is preventing the team from tanking. Pick a lane.

I was talking about this THIS year. Not every year. Goaltending is very inconsistent in this league.

Has Wolf shown any sign of being anything but consistently good at any level?

Good UFAs and players with NTCs do not want to go to bad teams. They will go to them if they come out of a rebuild successfully.

Oh relax Angus, I mean Connor.
I just pointed out how you flop around on a topic
But
It’s understandable, when you make one or two hundred posts a day how can you be expected to remember what your position is.
You’re like Trump on X.

You are starting to sound like Monahammer. Conroy tried to rebuild this season and ended up with a team fighting for a playoff spot. He hasn’t added any short term pieces and has stated he doesn’t plan to. He can’t really just sit there and hope Wolf ####s the bed next year. That isn’t a plan.

You can disagree with my hockey takes all you want but comparing me to Trump in any fashion is as low as you can go.
I will not engage with you anymore.

Sure for the first few years a top UFA looking to win won’t want too - but the argument was if a team rebuilds / tears down UFAs will never sign with that team in the future, so if the Flames rebuild they will never be able to sign another UFa .
Rebuilding teams also don’t want the high priced UFAs because they are older and post apex - especially as the team is ready to exit the rebuild
But lots of UFAs have signed with teams in rebuilds and lots of stars / top yearly UFAs sign with the teams that look to be exiting a rebuild
These are usually the teams with cap room as well .

No one is saying Wolf is going to suck next year. But leaning into him is a mistake it’s absolutely is deviating from the plan if he did plan to rebuild.
Goalie last long in this league.

If he doesn't, the team doesn't finish bottom 5.

You know what I’m not even talking about bottom 5 finishes.
Just don’t trade picks for bums like Cozens. Stick to the plan and draft. I believe in our scouting stafff to find guys.
Move guys out for more assets and picks.
