That doesn't seem very likely. Most people are pretty risk averse so if you get these types of actors it's likely not going to be en masse and not in Washington where they'll get stopped by security. I could see someone shooting up a GOP congressman's town hall or something though. Maybe someone puts their MAGA neighbours in the hospital, lights a building on fire, that sort of thing. Again, Mangioni-esque stuff.

I’m assuming this is the official “American” spelling.

None of these actions you're describing are "Mangionesque". Luigi's action was calculated and precise, what you are describing is broad and chaotic.

I always get overthrowing states and illegal underground battle competitions mixed up!
And, like 9/11, The Lion King always has something to do with current events!

And even if all the barriers were overcome, you’re looking at a 10+ year process.

It was posted a while back, but a DW reporter asked this question to an EU rep a couple of weeks ago and the answer was that it would not be impossible for Canada to join noting that "European" is not defined as strictly geographical. They mentioned that Morocco had applied and was turned down for not being "European enough", noting not just geography but culture, values, history, political alignment. The EU also affirmed that Armenia, which is technically considered to be in West Asia geographically, is considered "European" due to culture and values. Most of Europe's eastern border with Asia is culturally defined or geographically arbitrary.
There would be a lot of challenges though. The Canadian agricultural industry would have to be overhauled because a lot of our practices do not meet EU standards. There is also reluctance from some countries like Poland to let in countries with relaxed immigration policies. I don't think any of these issues would be insurmountable though.
The more recent talk has been about a "CanEU" union, therefore rules about joining the actual EU wouldn't apply.

Yeah, I didn't remember an Anti-NDP article from nearly a decade ago in the US Politics thread.
Mea Culpa.

Well, koudeta is Haitian Creole for coup d’etat.
After the coup in ‘91 there was a popular news clip of a Haitian woman yelling that down here in Little Haiti. So, like the idiots we were, we walked around imitating her.

While there would be challenges for Canada to formally join the EU, a more easier route is to establish a special relationship with the EU like the Scandinavian countries have.

You know, I don't know if Canada has the state capacity to do so, and I hope if we do it would be impossible for any of us to find out. But we really should be trying to develop assets of these former generals and sec defs who are openly critical of Trump and/or were dismissed without cause.
These guy obviously do see the clear and present risk of US military action beyond what they are willing to stomach. I think our best hope is if/when the order comes down to take something from Canada by force, we have infiltrated the ranks to the extent that the answer is no, similar to when he ordered the military to shoot protestors in Washington in the legs, they just used tear gas and riot gear instead. Hopefully if he orders them into Canada they just don't.

Any strategy based out of hope will fail. If the US military is told to invade, they will invade- 100%.
You cannot trust the Americans, and Canadians need to ACT in their own self interests and do everything necessary to protect Canada. If we care about Canada.
This is why I am personally very disappointed so far with Canada’s actions. Not words- which are meaningless- our actions, which have been and continue to be weak and hollow.
