Wow, watching American hegemony and the order built out of World War II that led to the most peaceful period in Humanity's existence crumble on live TV.

It really is amazing watching another empire crumble in real time. First the Soviets, now the American's.

Not ashamed to admit that I cried a little on J6 out of fear of this, and now that it's happening i just feel numb.
Ive been listening to the podcast "fall of civilizations" for the past 2 years and it's been fascinating. Imo the American empire is already dead historically speaking. We just don't know the date it will be declared DOA yet. But we're talking exactly like the few records we have from people in/adjacent to other great empires during collapse.

I refuse to watch any Fox pretend journalist. Are they treating him like their Emperor did? Such a brave man. He has bigger kahones than the entire Congress and Senate combined.

It’s heartbreaking. So much pain and suffering, and only the kids of those who had to live through it got to live out their lives in relative peace.

What's pathetic is Trump and Vance haven't experienced anything in the realm of what Zelenskyy has been through over the past 3 years in enduring this war brought to his country's doorstep, and yet they talk over him and shoehorn this ridiculous narrative.
Trump sounds like an angry mom berating a teenager. It's beyond disrespectful.
This guy has strength and perseverance these two disgusting man-children could only dream of. They wouldn't last a week in his shoes.
#### them.

Reuters has a summary of comments from world leaders. A lot of it is boiler plate "we continue to stand with Ukraine", but also some pretty poignant statements. Also, #### Orban. I love Hungary, but Orban is such a jerk.
https://www.reuters.com/world/world-...sh-2025-02-28/
Here's a snippet:
Quote:
DENMARK'S FOREIGN MINISTER LARS LOKKE RASMUSSEN
"It's a punch in the gut for Ukraine. ... There must be room for robust conversations - even between friends. But when it happens in front of rolling cameras like that, there is only one winner. And he sits in the Kremlin."
|
Quote:
NORWEGIAN PRIME MINISTER JONAS GAHR STOERE IN STATEMENT TO TV2
"What we saw from the White House today is serious and disheartening. Ukraine still needs the US's support, and Ukraine's security and future are also important to the US and to Europe. President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has strong support in Ukraine, broad support in Europe, and he has led his people through a very demanding and brutal time, under attack from Russia. That Trump accuses Zelenskiy of gambling with World War III is deeply unreasonable and a statement I distance myself from. Norway stands with Ukraine in their struggle for freedom. We hope that the Trump administration also understands the importance of a just and lasting peace in Ukraine."
|
Quote:
ESTONIAN FOREIGN MINISTER MARGUS TSAHKNA
"The only obstacle to peace is (Russian President Vladimir) Putin's decision to continue his war of aggression. If Russia stops fighting, there will be no war. If Ukraine stops fighting, there will be no Ukraine. Estonia's support to Ukraine remains unwavering. Time for Europe to step up."
|
Quote:
JOHANN WADEPHUL, DEPUTY OF CONSERVATIVE PARTY-GROUP IN GERMAN PARLIAMENT, THE PARTY OF INCOMING CHANCELLOR FRIEDRICH MERZ
"The scenes from the White House are shocking. How can you stab the president of an invaded country in the back like this? Free Europe will not betray Ukraine!"
|
I also like that Marcon mentioned Canada specifically as an important supporter of Ukraine. Not that they need to, but it's nice to see an important European power recognize us.
The Guardian also has a live summary of news and statements from world leaders with a little more detail.

You might find it distasteful but it's true. The baby boomer generation is the most "F U got mine" generation.

Discounting all the good things people from the baby boomer generation have done, I suppose. Talk about painting with a broad stroke though.
Also, SO FAR. Have you met some of your millennial peers? The next generation? I'm pretty certain this is more a trend of human civilization as technology takes the place of conventional human interaction more and more. We are becoming less connected to the impact of our actions, and it seems to increase general apathy for others in society exponentially.

"The most" doesn't mean exclusive.

The worst day in recent history was the day the sniper just missed Trump's head.
This guy is an embarrassment and is going to cause World War 3. Any of his supporters are just as bad as he is.
