Chasing Summer at Max Bell? (Actually never been to that)
If it were me, I wouldn't even let Cowboys have the park, and tell them to figure out another way to relocate their tent. This is a downgrade to a neglected park, but it was inevitable they were going to do it. With how it looks already, the concrete expansion isn't bigger than I would've expected. Looks like there's some exchanges of green field replacing parts that currently have sidewalks. So, meh for meh overall.

I dunno, I think at ground level it's going to be a big difference.
The topography will have to be flattened. I can see how going from this to a slab of asphalt is big down grade. And lets be honest, the only reason this is happening is so Cowboys can plant a massive tent down and make a sight tone of money. But hey, I guess tax dollars for corporate entertainment profits is a time honoured tradition in Calgary.
Time to start figuring out how I, too can get the city to pay for my infrastructure so I can make boat loads of money.

Of course! I was the 'Empty Parking Lot Loitering' Champion for 3 years!
And it was easy! It was like the other guys weren't even trying! Except for Hobo Joe...he gave me a run for my money, a worthy adversary!
Glory to Hobo Joe's House! Albeit he very obviously didn't have one....
What kind of question even is this?

Why can't the blues festival go elsewhere if they want grass? Are we lacking grass in the city? How about Prince's Island or Confluence? Maybe Prairie Winds or Bowness or Shouldice? Maybe they could just hang out on top of Nose Hill? Isn't there some new festival space that was built on the east end of Inglewood?

How about #### cowboys and they go elsewhere?
I’d rather have grass and a jazz festival than the POS cowboys tent.

Nobody said they can’t. It’s OK to lament that after 14 years they’ll have to.

Are we lacking parking lots in this city? Why can't Cowboys go elsewhere? Are you seriously defending replacing grass with asphalt as some sort of improvement? Why are taxpayers stuck covering the cost?

With the City going to the trouble of making the former Midfield site all nice and ready for redevelopment, the last thing they need is 28m tall power poles right in front of it along 16th avenue.

Have you ever considered that politicians have no idea what they're doing?
I know you don't like McIver, but back in the day he literally had to teach a bunch of the councilors how to read financial statements. What hope do you think these people have in understanding something like NPV?

The strip mall that Tres Marias is in is getting torn down shortly. Thankfully Tres Marias is moving 1 block away on 34th where the Flirty Bird was and staying in the neighbourhood.

That will be a good move for them. It's above 35 C in that shop whenever I venture in.
RIP to that liquor store though. Guess I'll have to frequent one of the other 58 of them in the area.

"Fieldhouse" can mean a lot of different things...big open span building for athletic endevours is the short answer. The one for NW Calgary is planning to contain an indoor 200 metre banked running track, a turf field big enough for a full sized soccer field, and a bunch of gymnasia/multi use spaces, including a 3000 person event gym.
