Lightning 3, No goal support for Wolf
Not the worst first 2 periods.
Haven’t been very impressed with a few guys lately (Farabee, Sharangovich, Backlund)
Also Zary but he gets a pass. Hope he gets his game back.

They hang with the big teams by working hard and having quality goaltending but need some puck luck to generate offense. I can't complain about that and hope they can make some changes for the future that helps with this. Imagine Parekh coming in and providing what Hughes does with the roster already here and in front of Wolf.

Lomberg scores on the breakaway and maybe the result is different.
Caught much of the game in the background during supper, it looked like we played well and hung with them.

Ah, well. Can't win if you don't score. Made them work for it, though.

Listened to the game so I didn't see it, but Wills and Mick were pretty sour with the refs.

Obvously the Flames are at a disadvantage against these top teams.
Ignoring infractions committed by these red hot, offensively superior teams while punishing the Flames on less egregious ones just stifles any chance they might've had to begin with.
As if these teams need the officiating breaks.
I kept to the radio when it heard it was going that way. Don't need the day ruined lol.

If they play like that every night, they win enough games to make the playoffs.
No puck luck though, and Vas was rock solid.

Worked hard. Played a tight checking game like they are supposed to. Wolf was awesome. But there was absolutely no clean, sharp plays all night from the flames. Every pass was off - too far ahead, in their feet or late arriving. It’s frustrating when you see how a play is trying to develop but it falls apart from a lack of crisp passing.
Really want to see Zary at center again. Hoping gets back up to speed soon and gets another chance. Zary with Coronato is my hope when/if that happens.

It's TB in Tampa, that's a tough team to beat. Not the end of the world, on to the next one.

Him being on Backlund's line just nullifies him, offensively. Either put him at C, or throw him on Frost's line, or something. But he is being wasted right now.
Just switch him and Sharangovich - easy.

I’d like tgat idea as well. Just want him carrying pick more and making plays. With Backlund and Coleman, it’s always dump and chase.

They played good. Just didn’t get the bounces. I thought they were the better team for a lot of the game.

Sharangovich is borderline useless at this point. I would get him out of the top 6.

Problem is we don’t really have any forwards coming to fill that role. Our young studs are all Dmen. May have to trade for it or sign a UFA at some point.

First two periods were pretty decent...a step slower occasionally but also managed to chip and chase behind the TB defence and screw 'em around some...until they got to Vassy. Gotta have guys in front of him and we didn't.
Third period was a letdown. Oh well...

Lightning are a really good team this season from top to bottom. No shame in losing on the road to them but this game kind of highlighted the lack of elite finishers on this team. Over an 82 game season there are going to be games where the effort and execution are there but not the finish and this was one of them. I would say even an uptick in powerplay efficiency would make a big difference for this team. They need a PP QB on the back end and a guy around the net that can finish. Maybe Parekh can be the guy on the back end but I have no idea where the elite finishing forward is in this organization.

Flames drop from 14->17 with the loss.
Another loss on Saturday and I can see us dropping to 19th.
Right between the playoffs and a top 10 pick.

Another great game for that third pairing.
Solovyov looks like he may be here to stay?

Flames played well, however they just don't generate quality scoring chances
Against the high end teams, it will be a struggle to score.....
Obviously Tampa had luck, especially on the 1st goal.
Flames last game, had the same thing,
