A Titan of the industry that I'm so thankful I got to see so many of his films while he was still walking this earth. I might be biased but he will always be Lex Luther to me, will have to throw in Superman The Movie today in his honor

Not a happy reason to watch Unforgiven, but a reason all the same.

Yeah wow, I mean he was quite old so I wouldn't say him passing would have been surprising, but all of them at once like that. Crazy. CO poisoning is almost the best case scenario.

He was an icon of film for sure.

I liked his gravely voice when he was angry and it cracked. Like in enemy of the state.

Yikes. This sounds bad if true.

Hackman, 95, and Arakawa, 63, were found dead in their home in Santa Fe, N.M., after midnight Thursday, the Santa Fe County Sheriff had confirmed to Variety. Authorities said there was no immediate indication of foul play, but no cause of death was provided. Now, their deaths are “suspicious enough in nature to require a thorough search and investigation,” the affidavit, released by New Mexico authorities, says.

“Affiant believes that the circumstances surrounding the death of the two deceased individuals to be suspicious enough in nature to require a thorough search and investigation because the reporting party found the front door of the residence unsecured and opened, deputies observed a healthy dog running loose on the property, another healthy dog near the deceased female, a deceased dog laying 10-15 feet from the deceased female in a closet of the bathroom, the heater being moved, the pill bottle being opened and pills scattered next to the female, the male decedent being located in a separate room of the residence, and no obvious signs of a gas leak,” the affidavit reads.

Wow...thats tragic. First of all, Hackman is a legend but secondly, the whole family including the dog? Like I said...absolutely tragic.

RIP Hackman family.

Whatever happened sounds like it's going to turn out like a pretty rough scene. Awful.

That is crazy and weird. When a guy lives till 95, you think he'd eventually go from natural causes and not CO poisoning, damn.

Loved him in Behind Enemy Lines.

I was just coming to say that, as far as military thrillers go it ranks right up there with the Hunt for Red October.

Gene Hackman came to the neighbourhood mom & pop store to buy something when he was in Calgary filming Superman. It was all the old guy who ran the store talked about for the next couple of years.

He had a line in the replacements where he quips about monkey fecal fights being more organized than his offence. Many a Project Manager who drew my ire had that one lashed at them. R.I.P. Mr. Hackman.

The Replacements! That was a great 'guilty pleasure' movie.
