Felix comes back from a set down to get past Nuno Borges 4-6 6-3 7-5. A late break of serve in set 3 at 5-5 by FAA followed by serving it out to love ultimately made the difference. Borges was serving at over a 80% first serve clip in set 3 and really tested FAA, but the Canadian is on a pretty nice roll at the moment.

Remember last year when Paul and Fritz were both fighting against the humid weather, puking, etc? You can see just after the opening games in the first set of these night matches that the players are already soaked.

Tommy Paul just withdrew from the tourney claiming a stomach ailment. Marcus Giron gets a walkover win to the next round. Maybe Tommy should skip Acapulco, it's not good for his health.

Shapo advances in Acapulco with a 6-4 6-3 win over a hampered Alex Michelsen. The American took a MTO early in set 2 and he just wasn't moving very well throughout the entire match. Denis gets the aforementioned Marcus Giron in the quarter-finals.

All right, Felix is into the semi-finals in Dubai with a 6-4 3-6 6-2 win over Marin Cilic. He awaits the winner of the match between Halys and Nardi,

I know we're still in February, but Felix is currently in 3rd place in the race to Turin. The thing is once you earn these points, you don't lose them so gett8ing off to a good start bodes well for later in the year.

I'm not sure if I would enter this tournament if I was a high ranked pro. Between the bad water/food and the extremely hot/humid conditions it feels like too much can go wrong. On the contrary for a lower ranked player I would look at it as an opportunity to go deep in a 500 event seeing how many players end up sick or fatigued. Really though it's kind of a problem for the organizers if this many players are getting food poisoning as they should be doing a better job ensuring the food is good and everyone should be drinking bottled water.

Momentum is a wonderful thing. Both him and Shapo getting their rankings back to where they need to be for them to each have success at the bigger events is huge.
I'm still not convinced that either has changed their games enough to clear the next hurdles in their arcs but it's a good start compared to where they've been the last 2 seasons.

Sinner is suspended and everyone else is beatable. Why can't Felix or Shapo win IW or Miami.

Felix made the Miami semi-final in 2019 when he lost two tie-breakers to John Isner. Fast courts at Miami (much faster than IW), with Sinner out of the mix, Felix has a great chance to make a deep run.

Semi-finals in Dubai now set:
Felix vs. Halys
Oikos vs. Griekspoor
Would love to see a Felix vs. Stef final, that said, this is the best tennis I've seen Tsitsipas play in some time, he looks really dialed in this week.
