I mean, literally the entire film industry would probably come to a standstill if they couldn't film in Vancouver for cities or Alberta for rural areas.
Not to mention all the CGI firms in Quebec.

The Tates’ departure came after Foreign Minister Emil Hurezeanu said this month that a U.S. official in the current Trump administration had expressed interest in the brothers’ legal case in Romania at the Munich Security Conference. The minister insisted it didn’t amount to pressure.

Beautiful read about a Trump voter getting everything they voted for. I hope her MAGA family gets to read... oh, nevermind.
A federal worker voted for Trump
Quote:
She figured her job, with paychecks totaling about $40,000 a year, would be safe from the cost-cutting campaign led by President Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk.
Besides, motherhood was her most pressing concern. Cooper, 24, and her husband were trying to get pregnant, but the doctor said that IVF might be their best chance. Trump had promised to make it free. That is what she thought about in the voting booth.
|
Quote:
Most people in Baldwin like President Donald Trump; more than 62 percent in Lake County, which includes the town, voted for him in November and in 2020. But people don’t talk about it. Politics here, at least until recently, felt removed from everyday worries.
Now it was in her living room, as she turned to her husband and burst into tears. “I think I’m getting fired,” she said.
|
Quote:
Her mortgage was too expensive, groceries were nearly $400 a month, and one single cycle of IVF could cost more than 10 percent of her annual household income.
Trump, at a campaign stop an hour and a half south of her, had promised to make IVF free. She knew that from a video clip she saw on TikTok. And she had believed him.
|
Quote:
There was a new executive order to expand access to IVF. She read the White House fact sheet, which talked about Trump’s request for policy recommendations to reduce costs of the service.
But it still wasn’t free, and she was out of a job and out of a plan.
“Delivering on promises for American families,” read the White House’s announcement.
“That’s bulls---”, she recalled thinking, and put down her phone.

Among Republicans, his favorability rating is actually up YTD. 81% of them view him favorably.

81 percent favorability among Republicans seems lower than usual. In his first time I think his favorability among Republicans was in the high 90's.

Nah. She lived through Trump 1.0, a Biden presidency, was swayed by a tik tok video, believed Trump when he said Project 2025 was fake, likely knew full well Trumps allegations against him and subsequent conviction, and voted for him anyways. Next election (if there even is one) she'll be swayed yet again by a brand new tik tok video promising her the same thing.

This is my concern too; young people of the TikTok generation are easily swayed by content they see on their preferred media platforms. They are the most susceptible to misinformation, Russian/Chinese online interference, and conspiracy sludge put out by the GOP and biased media outlets (usually right-wing ones). Sold by a single video, without any critical thinking.
I would suspect many, many new voters, between the ages of 18-25, don't actually know the putrid history of Trump either and what a disaster he has been for decades. Trump seems like a 'fun guy' on socials, and that's all they need. Social media is doing some severe damage to the newer voting base. Not even sure how you fix it at this point.

Muslim voters for Trump surprised he doesn't like Muslims.
Quote:
Faye Nemer, CEO and founder of the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) American Chamber of Commerce in Dearborn, Mich., called the video “offensive and counterproductive to peace talks” in a statement to NPR.
Nemer, who says she voted for Trump in November, is calling on him to remove the video and issue a “reconciliatory statement.”

LOL. "Reconciliatory statement". Trump's specialty. How do these people remain this dumb? You were fooled. Cut the loss and stop pretending this man is human.
