She's been a part of some shockingly great films from the 80s-90s.
Which makes one wonder.... what the hell happened?
Star Wars dorks like to claim that she's ruined SW, but in reality the franchise has still been hugely successful under her watch. She basically rescued it from the dead when TFA came out and made a gazillion dollars.
The good:
Mandalorian
Andor
Skeleton Crew
Force Awakens
The flawed, but still decent:
Obi-Wan
The bad:
Rise of Skywalker
Last Jedi
Book of Boba Fett
Ahsoka
Acolyte
So yea, she's had a few duds in there for sure. But when you're churning out this much content, it's impossible to hit it out of the park every single time.
As always, whenever there's a report that Kennedy is retiring, she comes out a couple days later to deny it, although it does sound like they're at least working on a succession plan for when she drops dead at the office...
Quote:
DEADLINE: We’ve read all these speculative reports that you are out, that there’s a frenzy for the next person who’s going to take over Lucasfilm. What is the truth?
KATHLEEN KENNEDY: The truth is, and I want to just say loud and clear, I am not retiring. I will never retire from movies. I will die making movies. That is the first thing that’s important to say. I am not retiring. What’s happening at Lucasfilm is I have been talking for quite some time with both Bob and Alan about what eventual succession might look like. We have an amazing bench of people here, and we have every intention of making an announcement months or a year down the road. We are in lockstep as to what that’s going to be, and I am continuing. I’m producing the Mandalorian movie right now, and I’m also producing Shawn Levy’s movie, which is after that. So I’m continuing to stay at Lucasfilm and looking very thoughtfully with Bob and Alan as to who’s stepping in. So that is all underway, and we have every right to make that announcement when we want to make it.
"Bob and Alan" are Bob Iger, the CEO of Disney, and Alan Bergman, the Co-Chairman of Disney Entertainment.

Her massive failure mostly revolves around the trilogy. She was in charge, but had no commitment to any sort of framework for 3 of the most anticipated movies in cinema history. I see that as her biggest failure, and grand enough that she deserves the criticism for it.

I wouldn't put The Mandalorian in the good really. It started good, and then it got committee'd and by season three is was straight bad.
I still think it's great. The only negative association I have with it is the appearance of the main characters in the Book of Boba Fett. Season 3 was a bit unfocussed, but the root of the show is a spaghetti western. So it's supposed to involve Mando going on frequent sidequests that may not be essential to the overarching plot.
I didn't like season 3 much. It was really uneven in terms of quality from episode to episode. The one side quest episode before the multi part finale was outright jarring. But it didn't do enough bad to sour me on Mando as a whole.
Pedro Pascal in beskar armour and Grogu is still a cool pairing no matter what.
That droid he teams up with and later rebuilds is also the best. Lots of top tier side characters too.
Two great seasons and one mediocre. Still a good show.
The show was awesome anytime Vader was onscreen. Otherwise... meh.
The problem with including Vader was that it just highlighted how lame the main villains in the show were. Vader made the inquisitors look like a bunch of teenagers cos-playing cenobites. The character design on the inquisitors was awful. The heavy white makeup just looked like makeup.

I'm a Rebels enjoyer so I already knew going into the series that the Inquisitors were a joke. They're the force-sensitives not good enough to become any more than grunts with no threat to the Emperor or Vader in general. I honestly hated the Grand Inquisitor's makeup as well, but I don't mind the Inquisitors in general.
I enjoyed the way Vader toyed with Reva when she tried to fight him, displaying just how outclassed she was by comparison.

I never watched the animated series, but the character design worked better in the animated universe. In an animated series you can easily change proportions and skull shapes to give characters a more alien appearance. In Obi-Wan, they just looked like humans with white makeup on.
