I think there is just something in the air right now, or maybe it's some type of moon cycle, because Paulie Walnuts and Monahammer seem to be even more persistent to just constantly mention that somehow this season is a complete waste without the team picking top 5 this year, the Flames are a terrible organization, they should never make a trade including a draft pick to improve the team even if it's for a U-25 player, and they somehow should have guaranteed this team was bad enough to pick top 5.

Constantly ignoring that the team had the 2nd lowest salary in the league, had completely unproven goaltending, 2 top 4 dmen, and a pretty poor roster overall that just overperformed through hard work and playing the system all year.

I had the Flames finishing with pick #18 and having to give it to Florida before the season started. Not everyone was convinced this was a bottom 5 team, there were a few of us who thought they would surprise.

Can you find the post I said the season is a waste ?

They should absolutely not be moving draft picks for more middle 6 players. If you can find me an elite top line player available that can be had for a draft pick let me know.

I’ve literally said they have overachieved and it’s by outworking their opponent and on the back of Wolf. That doesn’t mean you start abandoning the build and move picks for junk like a Cozens or dip into free agency for a Rantanen. Those are the hypotheticals being discussed.

The team lacks the elite talent to take the next step. They don’t have a #1C and unless a Eichel suddenly happens the draft is the most likely way to grab one.

Prior to the season I’ve been saying Wolf is going to be a star. So what he’s doing now isn’t a surprise but this quickly it is.

Yes I did say that it might be an upper management and ownership issue the second they smell a playoff spot they can’t stomach seeing through a proper rebuild.

But you do you man make stuff up to hunt for likes from Burning Beard and Dino.

Any debate with you is just a pissing match that the Flames are the greatest team ever and can’t do no wrong. Every player is the best everyone else is just a hater.

The Flames should be on every free agent. Throw the kitchen sink at Mitch marner because that’s what this teams needs another overpaid winger.

I don’t post much, but read everything in this thread, and decided to log in and comment.

Man some people around here just have to be negative about everything, makes me think they are actually an oilers fan in disguise.

Conroy has said multiple times he’s not tanking, and going to make moves he can to improve the team. Yes we are overachieving, but you know what. If you’re acrually a fan, try and enjoy these moments.

And to those certain people who are negative all the damn time and critical of management, go down to the saddle dome and fight for a job in management and do it yourself if you know the best way to build this team. Have opinions on here sure, but there’s certain posters who I legit just pass over because I know they have nothing of value to add, and just crap all over everyone’s ideas and comments because it doesn’t align with the whole “WE NEED TO TANK OR WE WILL NEVER BE GOOD” narrative they keep posting.

If he doesn’t sign with Carolina I think any team would be cautious trading for him because it’s most likely he we will test free agency at that point.

Outside of the 8th year he’s probably going to free agency at one of the better times with the cap going up and a lot of teams with space.

I just feel like if the Flames sign Rantanen he goes full Huberdeau 2.0. He’s struggling in Carolina and I don’t think he’d do any better here.

They aren't rebuilding that much is clear.
Since that's the case I try to talk about how they might build rather then constantly lamenting on what I'd wish they'd do.


But I dont think people's frustrations are unfounded though.

Alot were hopeful we would try something different. It definitely feels closer to the same old.

They're retooling and they're trying to do it at a quick pace.

IMO, Huberdeau 2.0 was 2023-2024. We are into Huberdeau 3.0 now. Leading scorer, plays decent D and has this magical ability cross check endlessly without being called.
