The video is clearly from "echo mike tango medevac" in the ATC recording since you can hear them identify themselves; this is also the plane the tower was warning Delta about because a few minutes prior he had momentarily crossing in front of the ILS glideslope antenna.

Crazy that in 2025 you can immediately hear the ATC minutes after the crash, then hours later see HD video from the planes making the ATC calls.

Cranes are on site (have been for a couple of hours) and they want to get this thing moved since it is impacting 2 runways. Then of course they will have to inspect and repair any damage to the surfaces.

Asiana A350 with a low approach to SFO leading to a go around, bringing back memories of their 2013 crash there.

Are we going to have to rename this thread to "Aviation Incident Appreciation Station"?

Quote:
Earlier this morning at Midway Airport in Chicago a near miss occurred between a landing Southwest Airlines aircraft, N8517F as SWA2504, and a private jet, N560FX as LXJ560.

As SWA2504 is coming into land, LXJ560 taxis across the runway forcing SWA2504 into a go around just feet from the ground.

I'm sure the pilot would have held short of 31C if it had been AI that told him to hold short

So what happens to the pilot in a deviation like that? Just a talking to? I mean mistakes happen but that could have been nasty.

In the worst case it could result in license suspension or something such but generally nothing happens unless they can prove intentional negligence; this one will perhaps be a bit higher profile given recent incidents and the ongoing Trump/Elon/FAA situation, and the fact that HD video of the incident has been looping on the front page of CNN all day.

In the case of an airline crew, they'd maybe go back for more time in the sim, re-training in a classroom or something such.

There are something like 20+ runway incursions every week across the country, the vast majority are obviously not this egregious.

I like that it is not Euro-White, but do not like what they did to the logo. New font is good.

The design retains Korean Air's signature sky-blue color, which has been lifted by using a newly developed paint for a metallic effect to enhance the carrier's premium image.
That'll be cool to see.

Very seldom does an airline release a livery these days that the majority of people like. This livery is so basic that I feels like there's nothing to hate, in a sense. It's just incredibly boring and looks like a cheap version of KLM.
