It should be called “Don’t bother booking a camp spot, because there’s a 90% chance the weather will suck Weekend.”

I hate how Netflix keeps asking me if I’m liking a series.
No Netflix, I hate the series I’ve watched seven series of.

Given the typical weather, it's usually more of a Meh Long.

“May Long” is an Ontario thing that migrated to Alberta’s vernacular. Along with the idea that it’s the beginning of camping/lake season. Which may be true in southern Ontario, but not here with our climate.

Is that true or something you just made up? I've grown up with it being called May Long and I'm in my 40s.
The funny thing about MaLo weekend is what nice weather we have leading up to it then how silly it gets for those three days.

And my basement flooded in the middle of the night because of that garbage plastic pipe to the sink whoever used when finishing the basement. FFS. Was gonna phone ServiceMaster (neighbor works for them). Any other advice or inevitable contractor recommendations? Will insurance cover this?

I don't like land acknowledgement ceremonies.
Either give back the land, or pay for the land, or STFU about it.
If I start squatting in your house but I come out on the front step with a bullhorn every morning and say "HEY, THANKS FOR THE SQUAT!" it doesn't make you feel any better.
It's a meaningless gesture in my opinion, and I just don't see the point.
I'm open to being wrong if there's something compelling I'm missing.

I believe land acknowledgements are a longstanding ongoing tradition for Indigenous people, practiced long before Europeans took over the land. Part of reconciliation is honoring Indigenous traditions such as this.

The long weekend Calgarians flock to the outdoors to spend it indoors in their camper while it snows/cold rains outside.

It seems that every public meeting these days starts with a land acknowledgement.

And I also remember it was a time to plant our vegetable garden in Ontario.

I don't really care about this element of land acknowledgement ceremonies. As was posted, it seems to be something indigenous people relate to culturally, and ultimately something they suggested as a step to reconcilliation.
What really bothers me about them is the insistence of some indigenous people on bringing religion into the acknowledgement. Why the F should I be "praying" to someone else's god at the start of a meeting? How is this beneficial to anyone?

That means it’s gonna be a long one. Tell them to F off .
I don’t know if it’s my own old age or the pandemic but I notice that more and more people will not shut the fata up. The unnecessary details about everything, always. The worst is when you know it’s coming. Like a trip to the grocery store where the machines didn’t work. This is a 10 second story tops but then it starts.
