His save % is .898 2.84 GAA. Skinner is 2.81 and .898 as well.
I think Binnington gets overrated, he isn't a consistent goalie and like you said he is a hot head. He also wont be playing with Makar, Toews, Doughty etc. they have Nurse, Ekholm, Kulak.
He looked just okay most of the time in that tournament, and then had a few moments of greatness. That's with a pretty good defense in front of him.
Can you imagine him dealing with that yakety sax defending display from Klingberg and Nurse yesterday? I can't imagine he'd look any better than Skinner.
But this is great. Nobody tell Edmonton that they actually need to find some defensemen who play...you know....defense. Ekholm is on an island.

His best year in St. Louis when they won the cup, Bouwmeester, Pietrangelo, Parayko, Dunn.
I forgot about Klingberg, savvy signing by Bowman. They should also trade for a forward.
The McMichael goal (goal #5 for WSH) was pretty funny. The Oilers defense was completely dummied. Nurse looked like Raygun there and then had the audacity to give Pickard a stare down after the goal.

Edmonton is No Good XII: "I Don't Know ... it's Just Not Good."
This has to be it. And here's the video of a dejected McDavid saying it.
You can skip to 1:40 but the whole video is pretty entertaining. McDavid with a subtle dig at his own team as well.
When asked about playing a big, strong team like the Capitals that controlled the game...
Quote:
They come at you in waves. Wave after wave. You know, 4 lines, 6 d men, and they just roll them. They're an impressive group.
Maybe playing with other actual talent at 4 Nations and not having to carry the team every game expedited McDavid's interest to get out of the dumpster fire

I may be new to posting on CP, but I’ve been lurking and reading these forums pretty much since their inception (I used to post on a now-defunct Flames forum back in the day under a different username and got burned out on posting after it died… hence the long gap)
But I’ve seen and read every E=NG thread and I agree that the best thread titles are the ones that don’t overcomplicate things and pull from the media or from actual quotes.
Unless a better quote comes along in the next ~500 posts, “I dunno… It’s Just Not Good” should no-brainer be the thread title. Don’t overthink it.

Damn, the ol' dissentowner kiss of depth. McDavid signs biggest contract in NHL history this summer.

Edmontons depth is only going to get worse too, whether by age or the new extensions handcuffing them further.
There won't be any handcuffing; the salary cap is 87.5 this season and projects at $113.5 million for 2027-28 season. Almost 30 extra million for teams to play with three seasons from now. McDavid is at $12.5million currently, even if gets something crazy like 17 per year for eight years that's still "only" 4.5 extra to add.
