That'd be a cool job to have to make those.

Just finished Stalker 2. The game is in much better shape now compared to launch but there's still a few bugs and rough edges. However the game itself is very good featuring one of the better storylines I've played in some time (I never played the first game and am not up to speed on the Stalker lore) and I can see why it was on a lot of GOTY lists as your choices in the game really do matter and I found my conclusion (there are four different ones) very satisfying. Another outstanding game pass free to play, joining Indiana Jones and the great circle. It's amazing this game got finished given the ongoing war in Ukraine.

Yeah I should play it, I started it but only got about 50fps on my 4090 with everything turned up, so I was waiting to see if I'd get a 5090.. but I won't so I guess I can just turn ray tracing off to get a playable frame rate.

Considering 50fps "unplayable"...

Hah yeah I used to be fine with it.. but you get used to 100+fps.

I used to swear anything over 60fps was a waste and undetectable, but now I'm an fps snob I guess.

There's definitely a difference, I used to think that too until I played however many dozen hours of Rocket League at 120fps on PS5, then got it on my Steam Deck. It's a locked 60 but there's definitely a different feel. I wouldn't call it unplayable though, haha.

Can't wait. I'm sure I'll get bored of the 350 since all modern automated airlines lose me pretty quick, but it'll be so cool to see how it functions. The situations seem cool too, rather than just traditional failures

Aren’t the big commercial jets more of a checklist simulator? Once you’re up in the air it’s all autopilot. I like actually flying and checking out scenery. Nothing against anyone who likes simming a long haul flight but anything over an hour loses my attention.

Definitely. Which I still enjoy, getting the procedures down is still fun. But every generation takes more and more out of it.

MD-80 is my sweet spot for automation, combined with the fact that I am still doing a lot manually. 727 for when I was some real airliner fun.

I've been playing Disco Elysium because of a recommendation on here. It's the type of game where the trailer absolutely did not appeal to me, and I would have never tried it if it wasn't for you guys.

It's fantastic. It's like the Telltale games but a thousand times better. The story is great. I still have no idea how to allocate my skill points, and probably won't have the patience to play through again (I never really do for any game), but it was absolutely worth grabbing on sale.

Also Little Kitty, Big City is great, especially if you have an old ass machine.

Just make sure you do every side quest you can find. They're technically optional but some of them aren't, really. A couple of them are crucially important and you miss important story points if you skip them. Telling you which ones specifically would spoil it.

There are two skills you want to have something into - electrochemistry and inland empire. I won't spoil why but there are some checks you'll want to do with those. Inland empire is also just one of the skills that enhances the narration of the game.

The other thing is to always save a skill point or two for repeatable checks. If you fail a check and you have a spare skill point, you can simply upgrade the skill in question and re-do it.

I also personally really like Shivers, for the same reason as inland empire.

Seems you're following the same gaming schedule I am. I finished Stalker 2 a few weeks ago. Took me a while to get into it due to the difficulty level, deviation from standard formula of open-world FPS games and constant dying (that more often then not I don't know what happened), but once I got the hang of it I could definitely see what the hype was about. Really fun and immersive once it got going. It actually reminded me a lot of RDR2, in that the game is meant to be in a miserable setting that the character is struggling to survive in and that gets passed on to you as the player. I wish there was a new game + mode or continued game play after the ending, as I really wanted to go back and finish a lot of stuff that I missed, but didn't want to restart or load an old save. Will probably have to go back and load my save before the ending so I can complete the rest of the game.

As well I actually found that each update seemed to "fix" many issues but also opened up new issues that didn't exist before (on XSX). I never really felt like the patches improved my gameplay experience all that much other than shuffling the glitches around. Probably had the most main missions not allowing me to proceed due to glitches that I've had in any game I've ever played and seems most players have the same problems. Still, they get a pass due to the situation of even finishing the game in the first place given the circumstances.

Indiana Jones is pretty fun too, although maybe it's just me but I am not as hyped about it as others. Probably going from a frantic game like Stalker to IJ is a big contrast. Great environments and story, but maybe cause I'm only on level 2 at the pyramids that I haven't seen the best yet? Fun game, just not as amazing as I've heard others say.

Also bought the recent RE4 remake. Following Capcom's brilliance at the other remakes, this one doesn't not disappoint.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is really good, enjoying it a lot. At first it was a cool open world and spent a ton of time doing stuff to level up skills, explore, do quests, etc.. but now the main quest is getting interesting and drawing me in.

The voice acting in the game is pretty impressive, even the most mundane NPC don't sound like NPCs.

Huh... I totally forgot about this game. I too didn't bother with it, but recalled Pepsi kept making random references to it for a bit. When it was a free game on PSN, I gave it a spin. I was hooked for a few days until I got super sick. Then I gaming ennui again and I haven't felt like booting it up since.

I might have to put it back on the side burner and give it a go again when I actually feel like giving another game a try.

Monster Hunter Wilds out on Friday, getting great reviews. First 'big' release of 2025 for me, looking forward to it!

I stopped keeping track of my death count after 300. It's a really difficult game that only gets easier at the very end when you are finally able to get your hands on the best guns and armor.

I can see a lot of casual games not getting past the first few hours of the game as this game takes a long time to get going as it's much more real life sim than the typical open world RPG. I'm enjoying it now that I'm getting the hang of things but the learning curves are really steep. I basically started my own little alchemy business spending a lot of time making potions just to sell for money to repair my crappy armor and feed myself.

For any poker players that haven't given Balatro a play, it was added to Xbox Game Pass today.

It's really fun and very addicting.

Yeah that makes sense, it's definitely not the easiest or most accessible game out there.

Couple of tips I found really helped, first thing I did was level up my alchemy until I could make the Henry's Fox potion which gives a 50% increase to all exp gained. You need to be level 16 in alchemy to craft it and it takes like 3 potions to gain a level so it was a bit of a grind but using the simplest potion helped.

After that things get better a lot faster, practicing anything makes stuff faster. Next thing I did is overburdened myself and just ran everywhere. It was slow but running while overburdened increases strength and vitality, and with the 50% increase it went up pretty darn fast.
