McDavid looks shell-shocked and checked out after returning to the Oilers, which you can't really blame him after his spending two weeks with proven winners like Crosby, MacKinnon, Makar, Stone, and the like, and is now coming to the realization he has to live in Edmonton and play with a bunch of bums for another 16 months.

Watch the goal visualizer on NHL gamecenter.
McDavid randomly skating behind the net chasing no one while the puck is out in front.
Draisaitl is only at the red line coming back on defense when the puck goes in.
Savoie, the other winger, hasn't gotten back into the play when the goal is scored.
Kingburg and Nurse both standing around doing nothing.

Part of me thinks that this was his first experience in the winners circle with the elites. Listening and watching everyone from the coaching staff to the leadership group probably gave him a clue on how far off the Oilers are.

Nah, if you read between the lines in the media, he’s probably just tired from carrying Team Canada and being the best player in the world…
Mortals like us can’t imagine how exhausting being superhuman++ can be.

Two weeks of daily life in Montreal/Boston too really provides a shock when you land back in Edmonton and you've now seen how the other world lives.

You have to think that he and his agent have been discussing possible destinations, and I’m guessing Toronto is at the top of the list.

It all hinges on round two vs Vegas.

I just hope whoever they get in RD 2 is healthy and ready to win.
Last year, having so many top-teams in the conference beat the crap out of each other while Edmonton got LA and then a goalie-starved VCR before an exhausted DAL was too much for my old heart to take...

Just really want LA to somehow find a way to beat Edmonton in the playoffs. Have very little faith in them though.

LA very well could end up with home ice advantage in that match up when you factor in games in hand.
With 3 less games played, LA has 2 more regulation wins. If it weren't for the Oilers 9-3 OT record, compared to LA's 2-5 OT record, LA would already be ahead of them in the standings.

I suppose there is a good chance Colorado goes on a roll (passing the Wild) and this becomes moot
but right now I guess either Vegas (or EDM if you see them taking their first division championship since Gretzky was on the team) plays COL in round one
thus round 2 could be COL (or Minny I guess), so their path seems to be either LA then VGK/COL/(?min) or COL/MIN then VGK (or LA- come on LA just once..)

I keep seeing "rumours" that Edmonton is interested in Binnington. Can someone far more adept at Capology explain to me ow Edmonton could possible make that work ? How can they absorb $6M in Cap space, when they have negative cap space abvaible now?
No one is taking Nurse off their hands...

I actually wouldn't mind seeing Edmonton over pay for Binnington right now. Sell more futures and lose Mcavi in a year.
