If Trump and his few Oligarchs who largely tend to reside in Blue States start getting really carried away here, it will be interesting to see if the U.S. can actually hold together. Some pretty clear regional divides, and it's starting to get the Putin Russian feel to it. If you pledge your Loyalty to the Great Orange, you will be granted anything you wish. If you don't, there's a room for you on the fifth floor and please try the dish and wine left for you complements of the President. Trust us, you can't get so drunk that you'll fall off the balcony or out of the window.
Unlikely.
Much as he would like to be, Trump is not operating in a system that allows him to be a dictator. And whatever that system’s failings are, it has stood up for 250 years.
And if they have to fight it out, they have to fight it out. But they won’t be doing it in this country.

Well I used to think that...but right now...I'm not so sure. There is no regard for checks and balances right now. I don't think it'll get to another Civil war, but I can see Trump and the Oligarchs making life pretty miserable for their opponents who dare speak up.

The only thing really holding the line now is a handful of judges. And judges at all levels have made some pretty awful/terrifying decisions in recent years. There's not a lot of hope there either.

I can't help but wonder how long it will be before more Americans start falling out of windows.
Their legal system won’t hold it together. Trump will demand compliance from these judges / legal system servants in exchange for things like their continued safety or their family’s. It’s going to be mob rules now from here on out.

The practicalities of getting there are hard to fathom, but I wonder about a 'North American Union', modelled somewhat after the EU.
It would essentially mean California+, New York+, and Canada coming to broad trilateral agreements, and you'd end up with three roughly commensurate nation-states (Canada still being less populated, but more land/resources).
Atlantic America
20M NY
15M New New England
...
9.5M NJ
7M Maryland+Delaware 6M Philadelphia...
Pacific America
40M California
12M Oregon+Washington...and Hawaii!
...
8M New Coloradexico (Nevarizona is another 11M)
Eventually Illinois, Michisconsota and several urban centres would want to join, too
The rural vs urban split would be the biggest challenge domestically, as well as untangling the military (especially nuclear assets) and federal law enforcement institutions. Canada really needs to get its #### together when it comes to defence.
Nazi America loses its entire Pacific coastline, and probably the entire shore lines of the Great Lakes. So...probably some sort of civil war would be inevitable. Or more concerningly, Nazi America would probably try to invade everything from BC's Coast to the Arctic to Hudson Bay

With a sycophantic Congress, Senate, and judiciary it is absolutely a dictator enabling system.
The military is the big question, but I suspect it is more Nazi than not at this point.

Apparently the Eagles are declining to visit the White House after their Super Bowl win, which is resulting in MAGA losing their minds. Freedom to do what we want you to do only!
