So an oil and gas conference couldn't possibly have any repercussions for Canada, a country that produces oil and gas?

You are just assuming they are there because of all the other evil O&G names that were dropped in association. Also included are some of the biggest global pharma companies, biggest banks, biggest food companies, biggest auditing firms. Maybe reps from our Canadian banking sector will be there so that they can hang out with their buddies at JP Morgan or KKR.
I get it though, you saw the name Jordan Peterson and got all hot and bothered and your head is about to pop off.

Oh, cool, so many big companies are falling into supporting christo-fascism, that's even better. My deepest apoliges for posting it in the not quite appropriate thread. My deepest, deepest apologies. I hope I didn't spoil your weekend.

Just wow.

The leaked list shows that these senior right-wing figures will be attending alongside leaders of major religious right groups closely linked to Trump, including Alliance Defending Freedom, Focus on the Family, and Family Research Council.
hey will be joined by representatives of prominent climate denial organizations including the CO2 Coalition, libertarian think tanks such as the Cato Institute, right-wing Silicon Valley figures like Palantir founder Peter Thiel, and anti-immigrant European political parties like Spain’s VOX and France’s National Rally.
ARC is backed by the UAE-based investment firm Legatum Group and British hedge fund millionaire Paul Marshall, who together own the right-wing broadcaster GB News. Marshall provided £1 million in funding to ARC in 2023, which is run by Conservative peer and UK government advisor Baroness Philippa Stroud.
But the corporate representatives at the ARC event are on the same attendees list as influential religious right activists that have campaigned aggressively, and successfully, against abortion and LGBTQ rights.
That includes a senior vice president with Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), a Christian legal activist group that was responsible in 2022 for helping convince the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade, the constitutional right to an abortion. The group is reportedly expanding into the UK.
The Southern Poverty Law Center legal advocacy group argues that ADF should be deemed a “hate group because it has supported the idea that being LGBTQ+ should be a crime in the U.S. and abroad.”
Also on the ARC attendee list is an executive with the Canadian arm of Focus on the Family, a longtime religious right group that reportedly helped mobilize millions of Christian voters to cast their ballots for Donald Trump in the recent U.S. election.
That executive is registered for the ARC conference along with the vice president of policy and government affairs for the evangelical activist and political group Family Research Council, which is also designated a “hate group” by the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Evangelicals. All the sub genres of that sect. Generally you could lump H.O.A organization's in there too. It's fascism with a very thin veil of "Christianity" over it. You know, Bible thumpers. The ones that push their iteration of religion onto others. EDIT: To be kind of fair, it's a mutation of Evangelicalism or their subsects. Think like....the snake venom folk. But I've always found even the kindest Evangelicals are hustlers looking for your money to build their churches taller.
In no way shape or form would a real Jesus ever approve of their teachings. Doubly so in that person's name.

It's essentially what is happening in the US with things like abortion bans, ignorance of biology(only two sexes) and generally anything these fascists point at in the bible (whether it's actually there or not) to justify stripping the rights of others while they consolidate power while holding a bible(sometimes upside-down).
And it's not like being a Christian makes you fascist. In fact being an actual Christian would be the antithesis of it. This current breed is American brand, flag waving, bible thumping, anti-science morality crusaders who unfortunately have penetrated the highest levels of the US government, and now how them doing there bidding through this like Project 2025. It should absolutist be a concern to the rest of the world, as they have shown they aren't limiting their attempts to the US. If you are wondering how the US fell so quickly after Trump's election, it's because nobody took the christo-fascists seriously. Lets not make the same mistake. Step one would be booting them from the CPC, but nobody ever seems interested in that step.

Think of the Harry Potter villain who wore all pink. That lady was evil and hid behind tacky cat pictures and sweets. Thinly veiled heinousness.

Why are so many conservative Canadians such feckless traitors and like the United States more than their own country? I truly hope the Conservative Party implodes and conservative politics in this country dies for decades for this disgusting act of treason that so many are engaging in like Ezra Klein and everyday people with their 51st State bull####.

The thing is that Conservatives have more of a tendency to hold their nose and still go vote for their party, even if they don't like some of the rhetoric, or agree with it. For whatever reason, they still show up and vote.
Whereas that doesn't happen on the left with 4 different parties parties on our system who typically get seats in the house of Commons. If the Conservatives were to revert back to the 90's with an "Extreme Right" reform party, and a more moderate Conservative party they know full well their upside is like 25% of the vote and maybe 65 seats for the reform style party. Recent polling by Angus Reid seems to suggest that Conservative support which was around 43% is now around 40%. It's not enough to be able to win against a more united left, let alone for any faction to break away and go solo.
From what I've been able to read, a lot of the support that Mark Carney would potentially gain as Liberal Leader to close the gap on the Conservatives is actually coming from the NDP. Which maybe suggests the Liberals should be looking to go more extreme to the left to try and entice more NDP support into their party. None of their Leadership candidates is particularly proficient in French. In the past when this happens, a lot of Liberal support in Quebec is likley to go BQ, so to get votes outside of Quebec against the Conservatives, drawing in more NDP or Green support might be the way.

I would pay massive, irresponsible sums of money to see Jordan Peterson in a cage match with that female boxer from the last olympics who was wrongly identified as being transexual.
