Anyone who can take an established casino and turn it into a bankrupt business should never be in charge of any company ever again.

I hate to seem like I’m defending the orange moron, but that was a consequence of COVID and was reflected globally. What’s uniquely stupid now is that he could have followed that same do-nothing playbook and kept the post-2022 bull-run going (2022 was a down year), but his tariff nonsense is actively working to plunge the U.S. into a recession.

While that’s true, the point is if it were Biden or another Dem in the WH, then they would be blamed. In 2020 unemployment rose to over 14 percent and people were constantly lined up at food banks. In politics, the leader is typically blamed or praised even for things they don’t control. Trump also botched and mishandled the pandemic response, so he gets some blame there. He also had a mediocre jobs performance.

If Trump and his few Oligarchs who largely tend to reside in Blue States start getting really carried away here, it will be interesting to see if the U.S. can actually hold together.
