They could also sit some veterans for a game or 2. Not saying it will be the same veteran always sitting. They could rotate it for youngsters to play.

Regarding Rantanen, this is two yeas in a row where a guy who got traded just before the break in the season struggled originally with his new team, and rumors fire up that the team is going to flip him. I find that hard to believe myself. Lindholm eventually went on to have a pretty good playoff for Vancouver last year, and the reason Carolina made this move was because they want that player who can score the goal they need in a playoff series to get on the right side of winning. It's been 6 games that he's played since the trade...I don't think a team that got as good as Carolina gives up as much as they did only to panic after 6 games and make a panic move.
Even in the Covid season, Blake Coleman had 1 point in 9 games after being traded. After a long pause, he ended up becoming a very key part for the Lightning in the playoffs on that line with Gourde and Goodrow. Just because a player struggles initially on a new team after an in season trade doesn't mean they won't eventually fit in and be a solid contributor.

Syl, I think the feeling is that if they cant get him signed before the TD that they will look to move him thus avoiding last years scenario of Guentzel walking after paying a hefty price for him and getting 30ish games out of him.
Im not sure it matters to them, but its possible they refuse to go that route 2 years in a row.

Doesn't seem to fit with Friedman's reporting that Briere spent time in the morning with Kuzmenko, selling him on the city and the team for Kuzmenko to only have had 15 minutes to decide.

Possibly Kuzmenko was shilly-shallying about his NTC, and Conroy finally got fed up and told him to shoot or get off the pot. And I don't think he said ‘shoot’.

If road trip goes south would it be enough for conroy to ask veterans if they want to waive? Still think they should trade Anderson , but it sure sounds like they will try and re-sign him in summer
