Should this really be considered a nice touch? Do we want anthem singers just randomly changing the lyrics to our song? It is bad enough that they butcher the anthem by adding their own performative spin and I don't think we should be celebrating or encouraging them to change our song.

Boo hoo. Plenty of artists have changed lyrics in anthems, from Jim Hendrix to Jose Feliciano to Steven Tyler.
Jully Black did it a few years ago (our home on native land) which was kinda clever.
Plenty of credit to go around in this tourney. Marner shakes his reputation for disappearing in big games with some timely assists. Bennett shows up as the beast of a player and difference-maker we all know and love. Harley steps in as his steady and reliable self. Parayko looks solid. Crosby is Crosby. After watching Wolf all year Binnington’s spastic style gave me the absolute yips, but in the end he got the job done. Great team effort on enemy soil for a win we will remember for a long, long time.
The best was the guy in Las Vegas who sang it like Oh Christmas Tree.
Dennis 'KC' Park I believe was his name - If I recall correctly, he felt pretty bad about the whole thing and was invited to Hamilton to make amends. He did a fine job on his second chance.

Yes, it should. Americans need to be beaten over the head with this stuff in every possible way, at every possible opportunity, until they get it. It was done in service of the country and its people and it got attention. I’m all for it.

Ok I don’t know what you mean by “boo hoo” but I didn’t particularly care for it either, and altering the lyrics IMO was misguided. How did Hendrix change the lyrics LOL? And Feliciano sang it word for word as far as I know.
It really hasn’t happened plenty of times and it’s kind of arrogant (at least as I see it).
So good. If you’re having a bad day just put that on. Love his smile at the end.
You have to love the effort. It starts going south right after the first O Canada. And he’s obviously reading the lyrics but still manages to botch it with our growing hearts.
McDavid is not leaving Edmonton. You were saying the same thing about Draisaitl.
Stop.
I said no such thing about Draisaitl. Gets your facts straight donkey.
I am so sure I will make you a person who is wrong leaves the board bet. McDavid is not staying in Edmonton. Draisaitl knows, that's why when he signed his deal when asked about McDavid's next deal he said "Connor has to do what's best for Connor"

Hendrix and Feliciano changed the melody. Hendrix added a mchine gun sound effetc. Why is it only the words that must remain constant.
