At this stage I would identify the following players as locks:

Toews - Makar

Morrissey - Theodore

Bubble: Reinhart, Jarvis, Konecny, Parayko, Harley, Hill
Out: Stone, Cirelli, Marchand, Sanheim, Doughty, Montembault

Why is Stone out? I'm not sure Celebrini will be ready by next year - I hope so. I'd also rather have Reinhart than Barzal... Anyways, interesting conversation - I think the team will be extremely similar, if not identical to the team we just saw.

Way too young of a Roster. Sid was playing hurt but his presence was needed. I don’t think Celebrinni will be ready or play the role that guys like Bennett did.
D and goal looks good though

Parayko was solid; wouldn't take him out unless the next year is bad.
Bedard will be in; Suzuki likely.

Parayko was good and is the only good big and physical d-man Canada has and you need at least one of those - he will be a lock.
I'd say that Harley is probably a lock as well - he came in and played great.
Personally I want Reinhart nowhere near this team. He was given top 6 minutes with McDavid or Mackinnon all tournament and was a passenger.

That's an understatement.
He was the most steady blueliner on the team. He is a really good player and I have never understood the negativity so many have for the guy.
People hate the all star game for good reason, yet its always all star rosters they want to put together.
If this tourney taught us anything, its that you need guys who can play 200' games and at a very quick pace. Offense does not win these things, team defense and goaltending does.
The US isnt going anywhere and a healthier iteration of both Finland and Sweden will likely be on display in Italy. Russia most likely won't be there but even if they are, its taking away time and space from them that will lead to success.
With the bigger ice you will see a couple guys changed from the current line up for sure, but beyond that this group just showed what the winning formula is.
Also, it will be IIHF rules so you can mortgage your house that PK will be a much bigger part of the Olympics than what we saw the last 10 days. So when the club is announced and the belly aching inevitably starts about the Cirellis and Hagels of the world, just remind them of that.

I disagree, I like the younger roster. If Canada had that lineup in the 4 nations it wouldn't be as close as it was.
It still has Crosby and many veterans so I don't see the issue.

I believe Makar is still not allowed to play for Canada at any IIHF events, unless something changed. Since this was an NHL event he was allowed to play

I believe it's not an IIHF thing, it is a Hockey Canada thing
All 22 players on the 2018 WJC team were suspended by Hockey Canada. Presumably those not involved will be reinstated, but that has not happened yet, as far as I know

Celebrini could have played this year. He's 18 and is just under a ppg. Who cares about age

I would hope there would be some kind of an update to that before the Olympics Its well known who is and isn't involved in the case.

I would think this is already resolved as Hockey Canada selected this roster and Makar was on it.
EDIT: maybe not, as apparently Daly said the NHL’s eligibility criteria superseded any of the federations individual eligibility criteria.

I would argue that Doughty will be a lock. I had huge concerns with him given the long injury layoff, and only being back recently, but he still did well. I would think he would be a very stabilizing presence on the blue-line next year for the defencemen as Crosby was for the forwards.
