He's been on waivers before. There's no reason why he couldn't be back up at a nother time this year.

The NHL is all about opportunities. The right sequence of events happens and he's ready and he's right back in the lineup.

But...33 year old journeyman? Thats a tough gig. The sand is really pouring through the hourglass of his career at an alarming rate.

That being said...33 year old journeyman? Thats not a bad run. Thats a pretty good career.

^^ Was he? I thought that was a conditioning stint but I may be forgetting earlier in the year.

Not that it matters, I'm sure he'll clear and like you say he could still come back up.

I think he’d add value as a mentor for the Wranglers. Tons of young D down there. Guess Tinordi’s also there.

He tried, and he failed. The lesson here is: never try.

That article says he was waived yesterday; did he clear today'?

Making a million bucks playing hockey would never be a bad deal.

Even if you had to live in Edmonton or Winnipeg.

It's the right move to give that spot to younger defensemen who might or might not stick. Flames need to see what they have in Solo, who - at 24 - is entering "now or never" territory when it comes to the NHL.

I’d start a young guy rotation to start getting them experience for next season.

My guess is Hanley, Barrie and potentially Miromanov will be gone then. Hopefully filled in with Wranglers. We have a ton of young defenders. Probably too many.

Saw a tweet from Jfresh that Barrie is the only NHL defenceman in history to lead all blueliners in points and not have a single Norris vote (2020-21).

You would think solo and kuz would be no worse than what we have been flipping since the start if the season.

Potentially better once they get a few games under their belt (than Barrie and Miromanov)

My guess is he goes unclaimed. I imagine some better options might come available on the waiver wire between now and the deadline. I could be wrong though!

Pinder mentioned on barnburner this morning that he's likely bound for Europe if he wants to keep playing - I feel like that's just not really a thing anymore. Especially a guy that made as much $$ that Barrie has in his playing career. I feel like the more common route nowaways is getting into coaching or management.

That's wild considering he was an Oiler for three seasons and those hacks up there always vote like that.

I think they just put the wrong day. The article is listed as being written today. And Friedman's tweet confirmed he was put on waivers today, along with Dennis Cholowski (NYI).

And I got the day wrong, too. The article said Tuesday.

Darnell Nurse finished 7th in Norris voting that season. Jeff Petry, Adam Pelech, and Ryan Pulock all got votes.
