Wondering if any of the home clubs will lean in and try to shut down any nicked up players.
Matthews, Tkachuk’s ect

At this point who knows how much is smoke and mirrors/mind games in terms of injuries from the Americans. Based on the Tkachuk/Miller group chat story before the saturday game, the US is obviously into some pre-meditated antics in this tournament. Not to wear the tin foil hat too much, but they could be playing the battered and bruised angle going into thursday's game, only to come out in full force thursday since the sweden game was meaningless. Gamesmanship.
Plus selling their star players (Matthews, both Tkachuks) as 'injured' or 'sick' before and during the sweden game absolves those players of any accusations of not giving it all for their nation in the tourney. Auston gets the sniffles.... oh severe respiratory disease he can't play against sweden in a meaningless game..

I think that’s what happened already. He got held out of a meaningless game and is guaranteed to play the next one, does anyone think he’s really hurt?

Think the only US player that really matters is Hellebuyck. I think Canada will be focusing on their preparation more than who may or may not be playing. I would assume they are all going to be playing.

There's no one player who really matters, that's the thing. They have redundancies at every position. No Matthews? Well, there's Eichel. No Werenski? Well, there's fox. No Slavvin? Well, there's McAvoy. No Hellebuyck? Well, there's Oettinger. No Guentzel? Well, there's Connor. No Matthew Tkachuk? Well they literally have a whole other Tkachuk.
It's all about depth. FFS they're favoured in the game while missing their best player. Canada could match that depth at least at forward by spreading out the top-tier Cs but apparently Cooper doesn't want to.

The amount of positive press this has gotten especially in the US is huge . Growing the US audience is all the league really cares about . Bigger TV deals and more $$
Now maybe it’s a one off thing as future games can’t have the impact of that 1st one unless we have fights everytime these teams play
Also shows fans love fighting despite what some here think

I don't remember a specific incident with McAvoy against Canada: anyone know what happened?
Don't usually see NHL players get admitted to a hospital unless it's something pretty serious.

It sucks that there are all these injuries for both teams (seems like even more for the US). Would like to be able to say at the end of this tournament, win or lose, that each team had the chance to ice the best team they could - poor roster decisions aside. I know it’s just a part of the game - just like playoffs.
Would rather see both sides completely healthy and loaded up for this game. I see the excuses for Canadians, if they lose, being no Theodore, Crosby playing injured, Makar is still sick. And for the Americans, it will be Tkachuks are playing injured, Hughes not playing and no McAvoy.
It will still be an incredible game though. Excited for Thursday to see how they follow up the Saturday game. Would be hilarious to see star players (Eichel vs McDavid) fight each other instead of the normal guys you expect to fight. Won’t happen of course but would be funny.

Hughes now in? I thought that wasn’t allowed.

I guess he's an injury replacement for McAvoy which Canada just did with Theodore, but unclear if they'll be able to use him given that they still have 6 healthy d-men.
But that would certainly be a game changer.

Sullivan said Tuesday that he anticipates Team USA captain Auston Matthews and both Tkachuk brothers being available for Thursday's final.
