Its been my experience with Vintage that the Steaks are always good but the appetizers are not great.

Also Chairmans and Vintage are part of the same group.

If you go to Chairmans make sure you go get a cocktail at Alvin's Jazz Club. Such a cool little spot.

Mains were satisfactory, but appetizers were very mediocre.

Way way overpriced.

We went to Chairmans about 3 months ago and it obliterated our experience at Vintage.

3/10 stars
Went to Chairmans about a month ago and the food was good. The service on the other hand was awful. Like you at Vintage, I expected more at Chairmans. I left disappointed, not to the point of never going back, but certainly won't be in a rush.

We went to Hayden Block Smoke and Whiskey in Kensington on the weekend. Meat was decent enough. All three of their barbecue sauces ruined it though. All were way too vinegar tasting. Ended up using the baked bean sauce if we wanted to dip.

Also, maybe let people know there are jalapenos in the sandwiches. I like them but kids typically don't. It was funny seeing their faces on the first bite though.

Vintage was a favorite about 2 years ago, the last 2 times we went it was absolutely terrible.
Like cant cook a steak to temperature terrible.
Will never go back.

Major Tom on the other hand was wonderful, mind you my first visit.
Great drink menu and the food was solid.

Booking my last meal with the family. When I was a kid and those two good years of the oilpatch, we’d go to Japanese Village every Friday (Southport location). I just loved it. Have not been there in 20+ years or more. Is it still good? Or is my nostalgia kicking in.

Or should I goo someplace better. Steak is steak. Anything that is ridiculous to eat?

We went to Pampa for a birthday a few weeks ago. Really good. Lots of meat.

The head chef is Chinese, so it is a nice fusion of French with Chinese influence - kind of reminds me of the French Quarter in Shanghai, though that's more Chinese with French influence.
Dug deep for this reply. First time to Purlieu. What a hidden gem. Everything was cooked perfectly. And since the shout out I'm replying to is 5 years old, Purlieu obviously has some staying power. Great little spot.

Tried it today and was pretty disappointed.
I'm a big fan of smash burgers and this isn't a good one
The bun is TOO soft.
The meat is great. Top scores there.
The Rosie sauce overwhelms the flavor profile.
Fries are good.
Onion Rings are greasy.

Meh overall.

And what was that long time burger place in the NW, again? It had a long time owner couple that passed it on to their kids recently, i think? Maybe by St Francis High School or a different one?

I went there years and years ago, I think when the Burger Questers were doing their thing. It didn’t really stand out but maybe improvements have occurred.

Hole in the wall Corner Street Diner has spectacular fish and chips--crispy, crunchy, not greasy, nicely seasoned.

It's on Centre St. N, in a strip mall kinda' north of Lina's and South of Tuxedo Sports.

Billingsgate in Stadium was probably my favourite until the mall caught fire and was dozed.

I'm still in touch with one of the Questers. We were supposed to grab lunch a couple weeks ago but we postponed. I think we'd love to do something again, but I also don't consume nearly the amount of fast food that I used to. My doctor was horrified when he learned I had a burger blog!
