I moved back to AB this past October from Victoria. I was absolutely not prepared for these past few weeks of cold. Hardy reminder of why I chose to live borderline homeless on the island.

That's what november is for.
The rest of winter is about extremes here.

I would give up the two extremes including balmy chinook weather to be able to bank on having -5 (give or take a few degrees) weather consistently throughout winter.
It's easy to adjust to and is fairly comfortable for walking, hiking and skiing if it's sunny.
You can't adjust to this ####.

I dunno, have you tried ... adjusting? Layering helps.

Anybody else notice a shocking low amount of tow trucks/ service related cars for things like battery boosts? It dawned on me with how cold its been the last 2 weeks you really don't see a lot of tow trucks and other people getting boosted as much as before.
I used to recall seeing cars being towed and boosted like crazy during bad cold snaps like this a few years ago. AMA is reporting a long wait time for a boost but I just don't see their trucks as often as I used to.

I don't think we're talking about the same definition of adjusting.
The feeling of air this cold on your skin is painful after a few seconds. 3 weeks into it, it still sucks. You can't adjust to it like you can to single minuses.
Yeah you can layer up but you're always going to have some exposure even if it's just your on your face. Opening the door for your pets, or moving something to/from your car, you're probably not layered for that. And even that short exposure sucks.
You can't adjust, hence why you must layer like a mummy to do anything out there. #### that.
I like letting my skin breathe. But the pro-layering freaks are welcome to move to Antarctica if they love it so much. Adjust your hearts out.

If adjusting layers doesn't help, perhaps adjust attitude?

I think the portable battery boosters you now buy have eroded that market a bit. That’s a good thing because those 23 hour waits are ridiculous

Yeah I had to call AMA for a boost a couple weeks ago - this cold snap never ends - and received a 20 hour response time (then they showed up in under an hour, said I was lucky he was in the area)

Same happened to me on Saturday - I got a huge chunk of metal in my tire. AMA initially said 20 hours, then it updated to 3 hours and they came about ~50 min after putting in the request.
One more day of cold then we're into 2 weeks of warm.

Environment Canada, who notoriously over-estimate, are saying 12° on Saturday. Weather Network, who I feel are more likely to get it right, have only 4° on Saturday, then 8° Sunday and 9° on Monday.

The app on my phone, which is usually very accurate, says 3. I'm hoping this is a situation where the government is right though as I'll gladly take 12 and lay out in the heat and sun on my deck.

Weather aside (know that is this thread purpose) but all things considered was a move back the right one? I only know Vic as a very quiet place with not alot going on. I went few years ago and its a nice city but people told me jobs are hard to find, expensive, and comatose vibe.

It's a long weekend, No one is at EC. Wait until a person shows up tomorrow to correct the algorithm output.

EC is always hilarious during these warm ups. 12 and 13 degrees next weekend.
We'll see.
But January was the first time i remember TWN undershooting their predictions. It hit 9-10 above on a few separate days when they were forecasting half that. It also remained much warmer overnight.
