Regulation win would guarantee it.

OT win would leave it up to Sweden. If Sweden wins in Reg, they would take it.

Might just be Team Canada's fatal error. No Winnington this year.

What did Cooper have on Thompson anyways? Number 2 in GSAA in NHL this year right by Hellebuyck.

Adin Hill is ranked 21 in GSAA. Even Montembeault is 23rd.

Binnington 46th ranked. Multiple softies let in already.

Cooper just as stubborn as Dave Cameron was at WJC. Borders on arrogance.

Thompson is also more consistent throughout his career. The rest have been all over the map. It’s weird they didn’t take him.

Didn't realize Sweden has 2 OT points.

Ride or die Binnington got the nod no.

Canada needs to explode offensively today. Can't afford not to.

So Finland needs a regulation win to advance?

An OT win and they could be passed by Sweden.

A US/Finland championship game. What the world is waiting for.

Hagel, Cirelli, Bennett weren't the issue against the U.S. They matched the intensity and provided quality minutes in that game. Especially the Hagel-Cirelli-Point line that absolutely dominated the Eichel-Tkachuk line and had over 80% xGF.

Marner, Jarvis, Reinhart, Marchand...those guys have really struggled to generate offense. With the pace the games have been played at the guys that aren't super fast, and also aren't big and strong have struggled a bit.

When you look at the top 20 of NHL scoring for Canadians the last year and a half the top 3 scorers left off are Scheifele, Suzuki, and Thomas.

Outside of Scheifele I don't really have a snub at forward - there are a lot of guys who kind of feel in the same level that are interchangeable.

Hopefully Bedard and Celebrini have a crazy next 70 games between now and when the Olympic team is announced and force themselves into consideration. Because we need more high end forwards for Canada.

Funny for a Canada fan to be saying “Canada needs more high end forwards”. We have an almost embarrassing amount of high end forwards.

I don’t think that’s the problem. Having an old slow Doughty playing, and losing Theodore and Makar has been an issue. And goaltending

Finland's defense is putrid. Can't see them pulling a rabbit out of their hat this time.

Both Canada and Finland are in the same boat (lost to US and beat Sweden in OT), a regulation win and they're into the final.

An OT win by either then Sweden is still alive and can advance with a regulation win.

I think they are top heavy.

They have McDavid, Mackinnon, and Crosby as the elite of the elite.

Then I'm a huge fan of Brayden Point.

But the next layer...Marner, Reinhart, Stone, Cirelli, Hagel, Jarvis, Konecny, Marchand, Bennett...feels like a really good collection of players, but who is a gamebreaker in that group?

Some of those guys have shown up well and played the role asked of them (Cirelli, Hagel, Bennett).

But outside of Crosby in game one, and a greaty play by McDavid in game 2, the offense has been non-existent.

So with Mackinnon and McDavid they have the two best players in the World, and Crosby is still great, but I feel like forwards 4-13 are lacking something.

Thomas, Barzal, Tavares, Celebrini, Marchessault, Strome, Bedard, Kyrou, Monahan, Verhaeghe, Johnston..

Some of the talent left on the table.

Eff... I hate to even say it, but maybe Hyman works better next to McDonkey than Reinhart just based on familiarity alone.

Was announced that both M. Tkachuk and McAvoy are both out tonight and Oettinger is starting.

They had to finalize the rosters at the beginning of December. Team management wanted a deadline closer to the event, but the NHLPA said no.

Which also leaves the option of the U.S doggong the game to get their preferred matchup in the finals if they need to.

Canada needs to absolutely win in regulation to eliminate all option including the outlandish one I just presented in this post.
