Back to the game...it really doesn't matter anymore and I hope the players take the same approach. They need to beat Finland in regulation then this game is meaningless. I have my doubts the US can beat Canada twice especially with Makar back.

Watching the fights again. Matty/hagel draw. Meathead Brady realized that he he’d bit off more than he could chew with Benny and started hugging. And little b*tch Miller got destroyed.

The fact that Miller was hellbent on that fight made it even more hilarious when he embarassed himself.

Canada seemed really slow from the midsecond period on. I love Crosby but it seemed like he was having trouble keeping up. I'd keep Bennett in and get rid of Marchand.

Brady T gives off some Sloth from Goonies vibes… especially when he’s in full meathead mode.

Crosby had a bit of a rough night for sure.
Turnover led to the 2-1 goal and he had a ton of turnovers all night.

It might have had to do with when they had to pick the teams? Thompson at that point wasn't the stud he is now? I'd never be sure about Kuemper. Not saying Binnington is the guy of course. I like Adin Hill, but also not Montembeault.

Please exercise more thought than this.
Canada's sovereignty isn't at stake in these games (reminder that it's a game, in case we forgot that part). Sure, eff the states right now, but that doesn't mean eff all americans by association. A lot of them didn't want what's going on.
|
Those Americains had their chance to voice their opinions in November . 18 million less voters came out than 2020. Out of those 18 million people would have prevented it only 3.5 million needed to vote again for the democrats.
So they don't even care about protecting their own country let alone any other country.
So #### the states at every level possible.

I really wish we had talked Bedard, give him 9 minutes a game and watch him fly on the 4th line.
In past tournaments the Canadian bottom 6 had players like Toews, Perry, Getzlaf, Nash and they would completely embarrass the bottom 6 of every team.

Doughty was fine? Nothing spectacular but he made smart, simple plays. He’s definitely not Doughty from 2014 anymore but he’s still a solid, reliable defenceman.

Not a good call from Cooper to stick with the sieve from St. Louis in goal after the first game.
Smarter move to give Hill an opportunity.
Team is got average NHL defenseman and below average goaltending…. not set up well.
Bottom 6 not dangerous enough.

Toews and Nash were great defensively and Toews was usually the first over the boards to kill penalties. Bedard hasn’t learned that side of the game yet. Which is fine, he’s 19, but not the right fit for this team. He also played himself off of the team with his slow start this year. I think he only had like 6 goals when the team was named

I don’t quite agree
This administration is newly empowered, are responsible for what is becoming an awful point in time, and are certainly abhorrent
These players have nationality (generally birthplace) and profession in common, but certainly aren’t political representatives
I don’t blame every American personally for the acts of a few opportunists
I am absolutely fine with crowds booing the anthem. Anthems represent more than the hockey being played
But trying to assign personal responsibility to these guys is silly
I’m fine with what they do. They play hockey. I am disappointed with the nation they represent
I don’t know why it’s complicated for some

The thing is, anyone on this team is perfectly capable of killing penalties. The reason they don't do it for their NHL clubs is because in that setting, their team wants them to spend their minutes on 5v5 and 5v4. It's a matter of opportunity cost.
If Crosby or Mackinnon wanted to be they'd be the best PKers in the league. You don't have to take players to fill roles. Superstars can do it all perfectly well. Marner - Point - Crosby - Stone could be your PK forwards and you'd be completely fine.

Why are some people talking about goaltending in what was essentially a 1 goal game? This loss is on the skaters, not the goalies. They couldn’t capitalize on chances and gave away the puck a bunch. And the US did a fantastic job in the neutral zone. Canadians need to keep it simple, make the small plays, and play with determination. And shoot!
