Head to head result means Canada goes through because of the OT win over Sweden.

As Sweden is the only team we can tie with for the final;
Two-way tie:
A tie in the standings between two teams shall be decided by the head-to-head result
between those two tied teams.
We own the tiebreaker. So we do control our fate

A team with these players should be able to score 2 goals of their own.
Binnington let in a soft one, but also stopped the bulk of high danger chances in this game. More than made up for it.
Skaters didn't pull their weight.

They had hardly any HD chances. This is best on best and our goalie isnt good. He has given up 3 bad goals in 2 games. Routine saves shouldnt be praised at this level.

Coach is playing Hagel and Cirelli far more than their play justifies

It’s ok to say Binnington sucks. Look at his save percentage this season. He looks like Brian Elliott out there. Look at the second goal he let in last game then the first in this game. Those kill you in one and done best on best. They should give Hill a shot next game

I never realized Matthews was so good defensively. Kudos to him, I always thought he was primarily a goal scorer.

Not to be crass but, why are they here.
They could've made another line chock full of superstar talent if they wanted to.

I'd roll the dice with Hill against Finland. Binnington has battled but I just don't have much confidence in him. I trust Canada's brain trust to make the right decision though.

Canada definitely has some things to figure out if they want to win this tourney. Gotta find a way to generate quality chances.
Get Makar back, beat Finland, and go from there...
In net, I think they stick with Binnington unfortunately...

Boo! Quite the emotional start to the game, but USA just did a better job containing the chances, and Hellebyuck was the better goaltender. I don't really like that 2nd goal that Binnington gave up, and would prefer to see a change there next game. Still, Canada had to find a way to score more than one tonight, and they didn't.

He let in a somewhat soft goal.
Unless the goal by Crosby to win in 2010 was terrible because it was an almost identical spot and shot.
In the end Binnington was not their issue tonight.
The U.S. played with more structure and is bigger and more physical and the small Canadian forwards hard a hard time breaking them down:
Guys like Reinhart, Marner, Marchand, Jarvis were complete passengers tonight.
