NY Governor Kathy Hochul rejected an extradition request by Louisiana to extradite a New York doctor who was indicted for prescribing abortion-related medication to a woman in Louisiana.

Ha Sweet, we are going to get an early test on the ol' "State's rights" issue that was basically the entirety of republican policy for 200 years.
No doubt they will be acidulously opposed.

Honestly I think I am less afraid of having the US invade Canada, and more concerned about a full on civil war when Democratic states start standing up for themselves. There is only so much insanity that people will take before the union itself starts to crumble.
But then again, I just watched Glory again last night and Denzel got me in the fightin mood.

The point is, people who voted for Trump are still happy with Trump
Or else his approval rating would be 5.

I think we're gonna start seeing lots of blue states pushing back on the insanity. I think things are going to get incredibly tense down there over the next several weeks/months, which will hopefully distract the Trump administration from the stupid annexing of Canada bulls***, as they'll have much bigger fish to fry. That will hopefully give us some time to plan and begin the process of diversifying our economy, forge new alliances, and find new ways to survive without the U.S.

you know 15 years ago, I laughed in the face of people down in phoenix who were starting to prep for "when Obama, sends the national guard in to take over". It was an interesting idea, a guy who had already democratically "taken over", who had never really expressed a desire to break norms, was going to send in a force of soldiers who were more aligned with their 'targets' to subjugate them, so that he could have his own job?
I laughed at those people, and now I feel like them, because it has all crossed my mind, I'm certain at some time in the coming months Trump will lash out in anger and say "just invade them already", lacking a complete understanding of just how logistically challenging an invasion of Canada would be. I think about the day he says that and I wonder; will his advisers say no? will the generals? will the soldiers? will the democrats? will people just quit and silently go home until he finds someone that will? If they do make an unwelcome entry into our territory would that be enough to break their country up, or will people go home or sit silently? Do they only have the attention space to invade the Ontario Peninsula and will they claim victory, while leaving the rest of Canada virtually untouched? I'm sure we have someone in Alberta who is stupid enough to declare for trump immediately, will her party stand behind her?
I've though about all of that, and it's just a sign of how bad it is, and aside from the stupid things I am sure Trump and Smith will do, I have confidence in nothing

The silence from the UK on this thing has been disappointing to say the least. I mean, I get it. They're worried about their own relationship with the U.S. right now, and rightfully so. But it sure would be nice if they had our backs in this thing. Trudeau has been meeting with EU leaders over this past week, and hopefully something positive can come out of that.
Also, I wonder what's gonna happen with the G7 summit in June in Alberta. If Trump continues with the dangerous and disrespectful rhetoric, will he even be invited at that point, or will the other leaders just tell him to go f*** himself? Never thought I'd ever see the day when the biggest threat to Canada would be our closest neighbour and ally. Man, what a time to be alive.

What if Trump pushes the Russia back into the G7 idea and insists Putin comes. He is wanted by the ICC, Canada then has a duty to arrest him if he comes here. Mongolia balked at it - but how will that play out... almost baiting us into action and opening us to retaliation, or risk alienating us from our other allies.

I don't think the UK is specifically ignoring Canada right now, they just don't appear to be good at governing.
This coming from somebody who would have voted for them.
Since they've been elected it's like they have no idea how to govern. They can't seem to get moving on anything. There are easy wins and decisions to be made, but they just can't seem to do it. My sense is they are terrified of making decisions.
It's a shame, as the alternative to them is batsh*t farage.

We can shoot down his plane with SAMs and just shrug our shoulders about it like they did when they downed the Malaysian flight.

Probably safer not to joke about assassinating anyone here. Other posters, sure, but heads of state get surprisingly sensitive about it. I’d hate for CP to be branded a terrorist hive based so some random web scraping.

Totally agree. Trump needs to die a slow painful death. not a shot to the head or falling out of a plane. Flesh eating disease starting in his crotch area would be great!
