I've seen the county peace officers do that in Airdrie. Hang out near red lights

Like I said before for whatever reason there doesn't seem to be much of an appetite to tackle this issue. Maybe they are but I'm certainly not seeing it and people certainly aren't behaving like they are worried about it anymore.

I'm going to stick my neck out there with this one, but I don't mind when people check their phones at a stop light. It's better than the alternative of checking their phones while driving.

I’m not to fussed about that but first in line doesn’t see the light go green but if you are second you notice the car move in front of you, you best keep up to that car. Calgary has to be the world’s worst and leaving a twenty car gap in front when steeping on the gas at a green. You just fasted 20 people out of 2 minutes! Drives me nuts.

Thanks for sticking your neck, out, but I'm gonna have to lop it off.
How about not checking your ####ing phone at all? If you don't have the mental fortitude to not touch your phone for 30 minutes, put it in the trunk. Be an adult. Make responsible decisions. Stop risking the lives of others.
It's still dangerous to check at a light, because you are looking at your crotch, you hear a horn honk and step on it. What if that honk wasn't for you? Did you have time to make sure the intersection was clear, or did you panic and drive?

I won't dogpile, although you're clearly an animal who should be put down for the welfare of all.
You check that thing at a stoplight, the light turns green, you get honked at, hit the pedal in surprise and mow down the kid in the crosswalk.
It's not a little thing.
Seriously though - use Uber if you're so addicted to your device.

If you are unable to check if a light is green before proceeding into an intersection, under any circumstance, it isnt the phones problem and you deserve what you get.

I knew I was asking for it, and that's OK.
Sometimes I change my playlist or let someone know I'm on my way. I think this is safer to do when stopped at a traffic light than while driving. I'm happy some of you never take your hands off 9 and 3 - impressive.
Wait till they find out that I've eaten a burger while driving.

Sure, and shooting yourself in the arm is safer than in the head. It's still reckless and dumb.

That's a totally different animal.
Everything on your phone is stupid.
Burgers are awesome.

This would also apply to the police. No phones or laptops while on the road, exception would be an emergency situation with lights and sirens.
Do we carve out exceptions for other professions as well?

We either understand that our professionals are trained in ways they can do this safely, or we take away a major tool for their job. We don't train Sally to drive with a phone in her hand. These are not the same.

I had someone ask me if I cared and I said no, and they demanded an explanation. I said, do you remember the 2016 World Cup of Hockey? Who won? Who was in the final game? Who scored the overtime winner of the final game? They had no answers. Now answer the same things about the 2010 Olympics. Tells you everything you need to know.

Sorry, if you’re using a phone while driving, you deserve a ticket. No exceptions.

I immediately thought "Canada won 5-2 over Europe and I think Marchand scored the GWG, what's this about overtime?"
I had actually forgotten it was a best of 3 and somehow combined the two games. I was right that Marchand scored the winner and it wasn't in OT, though... I do actually remember quite a bit about that tourney though. Mackinnon vs Sweden is an all timer.
I went into yesterday not really caring about it either though; it just basically seemed to me like an extended all star format. But the players do seem to care and as a result, it's entertaining, and I care about being entertained, so hopefully that continues.

Laptops, or something equivalent to them, have been in police cars for decades - since the 80s at least.

You are basically the equivalent of a child molester! You POS!
Probably mentioned it before but TD Bank is an evil
Pile of garbage. The roadblocks they are putting up to extricating money from them has takes 8 months. I need to see if a GIC has been moved to and estate account, yes/no answer, now all of a sudden need to set up an appointment (I’ve had 18 appointments so far to get to this point) to simply verify my identity. Told the tard that I will be bringing the police to this appointment because at this point you are trying to steal from me, 20 minutes on hold, now someone is going to phone me end of day. Feeling heat in the chest.
Is there a complaint department that has teeth? Ombudsman?
