Ron with two McDavid mentions in his opening sentence.
It's really as bad as posters here made it out to be.
Panel proceeds to focus on Mackinnon and Crosby (and rightfully so). Bieksa also focused on Mackinnon. Ron must have blue balls.

The participation of Russia is not yet confirmed and depends on if the team is allowed to return to the IIHF Championship program. If Russia is banned, France, as the highest-ranked second place team from the final Olympic qualification round, will join the men's tournament seeded 12th, France, as the highest-ranked second place team from the final Olympic qualification round, will join the women's tournament seeded 10th.

Because Lowe long ago told Sportsnet long ago to market him as much as possible, or he will leave and get hidden in the US like Crosby has been.
Lowe also told and promised McDavid he will get networks to pump his tires and make Canada's biggest star. It's why Sportsnet had John Shannon doing regional intermission panels in the early years of McDavid and has fawned over him.
MacLean has been one of the target of Lowe "control the media" campaign for decades. Golf tourney, charity events, Ron is ways there for the Oilers. In return Lowe gets his player special attention from the media and, surprise surprise, the media votes him into the HoF 25 years after a middle of the road career on good teams.
In this tourney he doesn't have to be at all mindful of his Oilers bias in fellating McDavid and pumping up the Rogers spokesman.

The Czechs, Slovaks, Danish, Norwegians, Swiss and Germans should have their shots at it. Plenty of NHLers between those teams.
Even if they're mostly fodder, it's a necessary part of determining the best of the best.

Not that there’s been anything dirty yet but does anyone know what happens if a player does something suspension-worthy in this tournament? Does the suspension (if long enough) apply to the NHL regular season games? I would imagine so.

Just a secondary powerplay assist for the powerplay specialist.

Nathan and Sid are much more interesting people, as well as being as good at hockey.
Don't get the continued fixation. So many players on this team to froth at.
I hate SN.

No there will be no carry over.
“The NHL is treating the 4 Nations as its own entity," Elliotte Friedman answered. "Any discipline prior does not affect the player's ability to participate and any disciplinary case that occurs during the tournament only has tournament repercussions. It will not go back into the NHL season when it resumes after."

Czechia in particular should have been in this tournament. Czech Republic has more points all time (35,875) than Finland (26,420), Germany (4,344), and Switzerland (4,265) combined (35,029).
If Czechoslovakia were still a country, it would have more points (50,366) than Russia (39,990) and nearly as many points as Sweden (58,805).
